controlsreefer
well i have aqua c ramora with mj1200 and i love it and if you are going to get a hob fuge go to aquatraders that have them for 50 buck and there is a protein skimmer on it already ( though i am not sure how good it works) http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?PageA...&ProdID=292 Link to comment
neanderthalman
Skimmer. It'll help with pH swings better than a fuge will, and removes waste before it becomes nitrate, not after. Link to comment
nanolax
i say go for the smallest cpr aquafuge ps, which has both a refugium and protein skimmer. If i learned anything from this hobby, its that you will constantly want to upgrade. At least now if you get the ps you'll save some money (in a way) haha. Plus you'll get the benefit of both types of equipment in one simple package. Link to comment
lthursdayl
Lol I cannot afford both at the moment, that is why i need to decide what to buy. I think I might end up getting this http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp?PageA...&ProdID=292 If I do get this what could I light it with, or just depend on spill over light. Link to comment
Duncan
For that aquatrader link, I don't know how effective is that skimmer, but having a big pump and that black floss in the tank is just ugly. I would just go with the remora skimmer if there's only 1 choice. you can always use a dishsoap holder for your fuge. Link to comment

There is a wide range of performance from skimmers, and if I'm not mistaken, the remora is a particularly good unit. Dishsoap chaeto holder = $3 refugium. Link to comment
lthursdayl
I think I might end up buying the skimmer, would any one suggest a skimmer different skimmer then the one i have linked Link to comment
rtparty
ok this is just my opinion on this topic. i say do neither. call me crazy i know. i had a HOB skimmer one time and it really did nothing. it wasn't the best on the market but still i have heard HOB skimmers aren't that useful. as for the fuge i think they are a waste. i know there are people out there that swear by them but unless its the same size or bigger than the display tank it has no real effect. i say save your money and just do weekly water changes of 10% or so. i think that will be better than either a fuge or hob skimmer JMO.
