I want to find out what everyone is using for their return pumps, I am stuck between a Mag5, a Quiet One 2200, and a Rio 1400+ for my 15g display tank w/ a 10g fuge.

I have heard mag run hot but this could just be hear say.

Thanks in advance!

I have a 20H with 10g sump.....i originally ran a mag for the return and closed loop and i found they ran hot and were too loud for my liking. I then went to the Ehiem for the return and Oceanrunner for the closed loop....both very quiet and run cool. Only difference between the 2 is the size of the pumps. the oceanrunner is much larger......i would say go for the best u can buy.

I should have been more specific this tanks has 48" of head height not including flow reduction for 90's and other fittings, I think I am going to go with the quiet one 2200 it is only 40 bucks flows almost 600gph is quieter than the others, uses less watts per hour, and has a max head height of almost 10'.

The Eheims are crazy expensive and I can't even get the one I need.

Thanks guys!

I have a QO3000 on a 20H w/10g sump - Close to 48" head - 1" pipe, .50" locline on x2 returns, a T, at least 4 90's, a 45, 2 ball valves and a union. I still crank down the output a little, but I wouldn't change it

I run a Rio 14HF in my Finnex 30g. It's the only pump (well as big of one as I could get) that would replace the stock pump in plug 'n play fashion, and it's almost nearly indenticle in dimensions and look too.

Another one for the Quite One, I looked at the others but the price on the QO is 1/2-3/4 of everything else.

If it sucks and breaks I can still replace it for less than the others.

Thanks for the fast response, I had a thread in the Beginners forum and it barely got any hits.

NR is the BEST!
