masterbuilder
I have an Oceanic 30 Cube that I am thinking about setting up. The problem is I want a trimless tank. So......you tank experts, can I remove the top trim and still have a safe tank? Thanks Reefers, Mark Link to comment

The glass should be fine without bracing, but I haven't found any calculators for the pressure at which the silicone fails. I did it on my 30 breeder with no problems, but thats a very different set of dimensions with very different pressures on each corner. If you try it out, do a long water test on it just to be safe. svvad
I'm starting to wonder if any of the trims on Oceanics need to be there. None of them seem to be made in one piece so it makes me think they're just there for looks. I was actually thinking about getting rid of the one on my 125G. Link to comment

My understanding is that the trim is not structural, except in some cases where it has cross bracing (apparently to help the glass???). Not sure if it's true or not, but I can't see that an inch of plastic is going to do much to stop the silicone from failing. Either way, I won't "endorse" it being taken off because I don't want to hear "well, dshnarw said it'd be okay!!" if it fails Link to comment
