Bought Cracked Bc8 Is it worth keeping?

Well I bought the bc8 and everything else i needed and was going to fill'er up when i noticed a tiny hair line crack running through the bottom 2of my overflow chambers. I brought it back to the store, he said full refund or 40$ and a gift certificate for the rest. I took the tank and the gc and i am hoping to salvage it. The biocube is has a plastic base that surround the back of it. In between the glass and plastic there is an underlay. If i was to silicone small pieces the size of the overflow chambers and silicone them to the base I dont see where water could go. I have filled the tank up and it does not leak. If I was to seal it up do you think it would be worth building on. Or is it a paperweight?

p.s I tried to take a picture but it was impossible its a dark cave.

I broke out a side of a 37 gallon eclipse tank, and even though everything I read said it was impossible to repair an aquarium, I replaced the whole side and it doesn't leak an ounce (been up and running for over 6 months). All you have to do is get aquarium safe silicon and provide good pressure where you apply it and give it a full 24hrs to set up and I don't see why you would have any problems...

I personally won't deal with cracked tanks. If they were fresh water and I wasn't going to invest much money in the livestock I might, but not with salt water and not with the expense of a reef tank.

If you were going to remove an entire wall and replace it and silicone it in that's one thing, but trying to 'patch' the cracks is more risk than I, personally, would be willing to accept.

I'm no scholar on glass cracks but I'm not sure you could keep a crack from spreading . It would suck to be a year in and all of a sudden come home to a leaking half empty tank. I wouldn't risk it.
