Dustin
I tore down my 5.5 planted FW tank and made it SW, my question is, what should I put in it? I was gonna get a goby and a pistol shrimp, but hear they do too much digging. I dont want to large of a bioload, and I am gonna have a large clean up crew. Could I get two small firefish? If not, what are some cool fish for this tank. Link to comment
jdsabin1
Firefish would be a neat idea. The purple firefish are real pretty. A clown goby, a citron goby, red headed goby, or a neon goby would all make fine choices too (not all of them of course ). Link to comment
Dustin
Could I get two purples? That might be a little costly though.... Dont you need to keep them in pairs? If I dont get the goby pistol I am gonna get the firefish and a cleaner shrimp. I think that would make a cool little tank Link to comment
Dustin
Can I get a purple firefish and a greenbanded goby? I was thinking that or a purple and two cleaner shrimp. Link to comment
offsprg01
to much bio load in a 5.5 imho. one fish and maybe and shrimp or two. have you checked into a watchman and a shrimp pair? they form a really cool symboitic relationship. you might want to check them out. i had a pair until i boiled my nano. now i just a have a lonely terrified yellow watchman goby. maybe i sould get him a friend. Dustin
That is why I started this tank, to make it a watchman tiger pistol tank, but I was told the tiger is way too much of a digger for this tank, and he is really the only shrimp I like, well in the pistol category. My other choice is a purple firefish and two small cleaners. Link to comment
westkyracer
Get a Nemo!!!!!! I have a tomato clown in my 5.5. Very cool and adds alot of color. It has been in my tank for over a year and no problems. Link to comment
Dustin
Yes, I am thinking of doing that, the clown I have now is so cool, I cant see myself having a drab goby. Link to comment
LiQuiD
2 fish in a 5.5 is cool as long as they are small, especially gobies. Link to comment
Dustin
Sweet, that means a pair of purple firefish and a cleaner shrimp. How tall is the CPR aquafuge? I might need it for some macro growth. I also need to buy one of camerons float switches, but think that a maxijet 1200 is too much power for the pump. I might go with something a little smaller Link to comment
Dustin
Ok guys, are you sure I can get two firefish!? I dont want anything bad to happen to the fish if I get them. I want a cleaner too, so that would be a cleaner shrimp and two firefish. Here is a picture of my tank prior to adding water. Link to comment
minireefkid
IMO i wouldnt get a firefish, especially not 2.... they grow to about three inches and are open water fish most of the time. I would stay with the smaller gobies. BTW nice rockscape scott Link to comment
