I saw a wall halogen light in a nearby hardware and I'm wondering if I can put 2 halogens lights in my 12gal tank (DIY lamp). Currently I am using 2x24watts t5 lights.. Im planning to put soft corals and some photosynt corals after 2 weeks because my tank is still on its cycle period.

Can I also use UV lights or black lights in there?

Yeah Halogen would be a GREAT idea if you wanted to grow really thick and nasty algae but other than that and boiling the water it's useless in tanks.

And UV/Black lights are no go because they are the wrong spectrum not only for your tank but you and your room too. You'll get "Sun Damage" as well as carpet, upholstery and anything else the light falls on for a long period of time.

Thank you so much gentlemen for the replies. I'll just stick to t5 for now and research more. Its difficult for me to buy online coz I'm on the other side of the world and it will cost me more for the shipping. :P
