DIY cheap Ca Reactor for nano

I was pondering an easy way to make a Reactor without having to fabricate an acrylic main chamber. Wouldnt one of those GE water filters found at a home improvement place work? or are they too small...??? I figured for a nano, with a regulator and bubble counter at only 5 bubbles/minute this might be a low cost solution...and easy to set up. The CO2 would be fed right into the intake end of the circulation pump using a plastic 1/4"compression-1/2"thread fitting, as well as water being fed/released using similar 3/8"comp-1/2"thread fittings. BTW...any recomendations on what pump I should use? And where can I get a good deal on a regulator and bubble counter?

Well your basically on the right track and your plan would probably work --- I just don't think you'll ever get it cheap for a nano. At the small amount of calcium suppliment used in a Nano it will take well over 5 years to make up for the cost of the CA reactor. Heck I figured it was going to take close to 5 years on my 58 gal system.

One thing to realize is this. The bubble count does not directly effect the amount of calcium going into the tank. You use the bubble count to get the PH of the effluent water down to a point where it will melt the media.

Once at a media melting point it's the amount of effluent water going into the tank that changes your calcium level.

Also different media's have a greatly different melting Ph and thus release a differing amount of calcium.

Having a CA reactor on my 58 gal tank --- I definatly would never consider one on my nano. They are great for bigger tanks but adding a little calcium supplement is just easier on a Nano.

LET ME EXPLAIN SOMETHING. I plan on getting a reactor for my larger tank full of stonies, so I was going to get a full setup anyways... About 20 some feet away is my nano. Now, it would be nice to just link the two tanks together and have both of them benefit from the reactor...but 20 feet of water being piped???? I dont think so. But, if I ran a gang valve from my main bottle...to another bubble counter...to the nano-reactor...this could be the easiest (also cheap) way to have a reactor on my nano. So I ask: where can I get a good bubble counter/regulator...and what pump should I use...as I run my twenty or so feet of airline through my walls.
