I just pulled this ad out of the December/January issue of Coral Magazine.

Why do companies always put tangs in their tanks for marketing purposes? ! This is a real picture, not a Computer drawing. It is no wonder pepole think they can put tangs in nanos.

"image courtesy of Quality Marine" - nice quality there quality marine :o

i guess they think they are the "ideal" fish, and everyone would want to have one

although, with out seeing the specs of the system, it looks pretty decent, with that pendant and all. Looking at their site yields no info on it though.

That is one very ugly ad. I especially love the dated-sounding copy: "Be the first on your block to put a 'little slice of nature' into your kids' lives." "Just follow the directions, sit back and relax."

Tacky! You'd think they were selling a tank full of sea monkeys.

Be the first on your block to fail at reef keeping

Sit back and watch everything die.

SW are just so easy, sit back and relax, they do the work.

OMG, that's hysterical. from their web site

http://www.ecosystemaquarium.com/html/ecosystemMethod.html

"The Ecosystem Filtration Method is based on the principles of ecology and is a natural filtration system that simulates the environment found in coral reefs. It does not require a Protein Skimmer or activated carbon to purify the water. It keeps the water well oxygenated through the photosynthesis of Caulerpa and entirely eliminates the need for air pumps. Caulerpa can also be harvested and used as fresh, natural food for fish. In addition, Caulerpa prevents the growth of undesired hair algae by competing for essential nutrients.

The EcoSystem Filtration Method uses the end products of fish metabolism and fixes them into plant tissue, therefore preventing the accumulation of harmful ammonia, nitrites and nitrates, and stabilizes the pH. By maintaining a clean environment, the EcoSystem Filtration Method keeps fish healthy and their colors vibrant. Furthermore, we have discovered through our research, that our filtration system helps prevent and even cures lateral line disease. See Freddy's Odyssey.

The Ecosystem Filtration System requires minimal maintenance, and is a cost-effective way for you to keep a flourishing tank of fish and inverts. We invite you to learn more about the Ecosystem Filtration Method.

It's no wonder some of the n00b posts make you want to bang their heads against a wall -- companies like this really do lie through their teeth and flat-out tell you that reef keeping is like throwing a betta in a bowl. B)

" YOu can do it ! "

wow

Yeah, i couldn't find anything about this tank as far as specs. Looks like they are moving out of the filtration product into an AIO.

FAIL

[sarcasm]Don't say anything, in 6 months we'll be able to pick up these tanks really cheap when all the people that "sit back and relax" fail. ;) [/sarcasm]

So it's basically an algae scrubber system right? Well then go ahead and keep all the Tangs you want.

According to their FAQ it's NOT an algae scrubber. The Testimonials section is pretty interesting. I'd get one in a heartbeat except they fail to demonstrate the awesomeness of their product by not providing any diagrams or pie charts. That and and their site is ugly as sin.

if oyu guys only knew what my two tangs were in right now as I wait for my new tank to be delivered tomorrow

To house a Tang in a small area for temporary purposes is not a problem , even raising juvenile tangs in small tanks is no big deal , as long as there is a plan to remove them when they get to big , I recently just gave my friend my Red Sea Sailfin Tang , he lived in a 70 gal. for three years and now is in a 180 , as he grows even more he will be passed on to another reefer who is waiting with a 500 . I raise juveniole butterfly fish in a 40 breeder , will they stay there forever ? NO , they will move on to bigger tanks to suit there needs . The reason alot of people get upset is because someone will buy a fish that will out grow there system and have no plan on where to put the fish down the road .

I agree with moving fish to a larger tank. I have heard many people cry about extra stress on a fish from the move, but most of our fish are plucked from the ocean, bagged, shipped, re acclimated, bagged shipped again to us or LFS which are re acclimated, then bagged again and drove to our houses and re acclimated. If some1 is going to cry over the stress of moving a fish why do they have any in the first place?

To relieve stress I always catch the fish at night when lights are out and acclimate to the new tank same way , this has worked very well for years . Catch while resting and awake in new bigger part of the reef .
