Turk357
I'm new to reefkeeping but not to aquarium keeping in general. I ordered an aquapod 24 to set up my first reef tank, It came with 2 foam blocks a bag of ceramic bio-media and a few bio-balls. I have used bio wheels, wet/dry filters etc.. over the years for FO tanks. About 5 or 6 years ago I did some reasearch on reef aquaria, the general consences at the time was that not only was bio-media not needed with adequate live rock/sand but that it is also a nitrate factory. Should I use the bio-media or just go with a foam block and run carbon occasionally??? I'll also be using a skimmer. Link to comment
aquav
I use live rock rubble in one of the chambers with filter floss on top which I change out about twice a week. Nothing else. Works well for me. Link to comment
RC51 in SD
Over the weekend I bought the egg crate and and made the shelf to hold the filter floss. I'm actually using chemi-pure too. Seems to be working well for me. Before that cut the blue sponge in half and used that for skimming at the top. Link to comment
