phiber_optikx Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I was just curious.... I just started a 10g hex tank that I want to have mostly zoas and mushrooms in. All I can find (for under $250) is a t-5 which will still hang off the tank by 12". That doesn't bother me too much though. My question is this; A friend of mine is anting to get rid of one of his old marine t-5's. Can I just switch out the bulbs with ho bulbs or would I have to switch out the ballast also? Thanks again!
epicfish Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 What fixture does he have? T5NO? Or T5HO? If it's NO, it won't work. You'll need a HO ballast.
phiber_optikx Posted December 9, 2007 Author Posted December 9, 2007 I don't know.... How do you find out? How's this..... What are the average prices of each?
autoponicz Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 for under $250 and a hex tank,,....i would do a 70w or 150w mh pendant...the wattage will depend on the height of the tank
JavaJacketOC Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I bought the current-usa 18" t5ho fixture from Live Aquaria. I have 1 of them on my Aquapod and I'm getting good results with softies and LPS
The Propagator Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I don't know.... How do you find out? How's this..... What are the average prices of each? by the wattage of the bubs versus the length it says it will light or the wattage of the bulbs in the fixture presently.
