Most starfish need an established tank. They can be sensitive. I got a serpent star early on and he has been o.k., but he even wasn't getting enough meaty food and got sick. I've got him nursed back to health, but I've been too afraid to try a more exotic star.

I got back home yesterday after being away for a week and everything is still doing good, so I picked up a firefish today.

Thanks guys.

Yes my Xenia is pulsing, however it was much taller at the LFS

Edit: I moved the Xenia closer to the power head and its doing much better.

I've gotten a few new additions since my last update, I got a Royal Gramma about a week ago, it was the last one my LFS had...one of my favourite fish. I also got two new rics.

I have the same tank. Does yours have a medal halide? I was curious why you changed stuff with the filtration. Mine has been going for more then a year with no problems to speak of. How many fish are you planning on adding?

I am just running the stock PC lights since I only plan on having soft corals and a couple LPS. As for the filtration, it is just easier to replace the filter pads when I do a water change rather then cleaning the blue sponges. I plan on having 5 fish eventually, I think my next one will be a sixline wrasse.

My sixline wrasse was agressive. I wanted to get it out but it disapered. I think it jumped out and my dog ate it. Nice candy cane!!!!

Update:

I got a few new frags from fragalot.com which is actually only 25 min from my house so I can just pick them up locally. This guy has some really nice stuff, anyone in Ontario should check out this site.

Radioactive Dragon Eyes with unknown orange/brown zoas.

Yesterday I picked up some new coral from the fragalot.com guy. Ended up getting a 4 headed green torch for only $40 (usually $25 per head at the LFS). I also got two new Zoa frags.

Tank looks very nice so far. What lights are you using at the moment?

I am just running the stock 64w PC lights right now, I plan on doing the nanotuners 3x36W upgrade in a couple months tho.

Good call!

I went with the 150W MH on my 24 APOD, and I am glad.

I see your Ricordia, hammer, trumpet and torch near the bottom of your tank.

I would like to hear others opinions on this, but I would doubt they would flourish with stock lighting that low. They may really appreciate a lighting upgrade, or/and moving closer to the lights.

(I have similar placements in my tank, but the MH really lights them up..)

Cheers

Fred

Update:

Well I was away all last week and my royal gramma has died, not sure what from...I did have someone feeding the fish and my fire goby is doing fine. I will be going away for another 2 weeks soon so I dont plan on getting another fish until I get back.

On another note, here is a pic of my new Orange Yuma

Where did you get the fire and Ice Zoa's? None of the LFS around here have any of the super colored ones. What is a good online place to order from?
