wizyrd99 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I'm starting to get over-run with tiny snails... Any ideas on how to "tame down" the population? Advice would be greatly appreciated.
cwk132 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Are they causing any troubles in your tank? I have a 40Breeder with thousands of these tiny white snails that come out at night and i haven't noticed any bad effects from them. The only way i could imagine of getting rid of them would be manual removal. I personally like these little snails.
wizyrd99 Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 No, they're not causing any problems... there are just so many of them and they're out in the day as well as during the night. At first I kinda liked them, now it just looks like an infestation to me. I was hoping I wouldn't have to pick them out one by one, but I figured that's what I'd end up doing.
clifford513 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 ^ I agree. Diversity is the stuff of dreams. Sounds like they have a good source of nutrition. Ime, populations of various opportunistic detrivores rise and fall as a system matures.
neanderthalman Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 likely collonista snails. Their populations will dwindle as algae growth lessens - they eat film algaes.
