Toshas79 Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 i told my brother to top off and to add some ph buffer to RO water but accidently insted of ph buffer he used kalkwasser mix. Corals are doing fine, just ph my test kit doesn't have color to mach
Mr. Fosi Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 A pH of 10 and your corals look fine? Something isn't right.

Something isn't right. sorry maybe it's not 10 it just my test kit goes up to 8.3 I think no more and a color I got it doesn't match any , Then I conected my ph probe, calibrated it, and that showed me 12.4, maybe it's not accurat. Basicly it's hard for me find out exact ph.
Ebn Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Better look at picking up a more accurate pH kit and calibrate your meter.
geekreef_05 Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Sounds like its time for a water change... ...a big water change.
Scott Riemer Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Sounds like its time for a water change......a big water change. Either way, shock. But, those corals should be really unhappy.
Toshas79 Posted November 16, 2007 Author Posted November 16, 2007 Better look at picking up a more accurate pH kit and calibrate your meter. Today I bought calibration kit and few corals. after calibrating my ph probeI diped in the water that corals came with it showed me 12.4 (I was thinking something is not right here) and after I droped in my sump and my water shows 11.8.Maybe my ReefKeeper2 is a Sh...t?
Mr. Fosi Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Maybe. Something is certainly not right. Try putting the probe in tap water and see what it reads.
GrandeGixxer Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 You need to get some calibration fluid and calibrate it or get a new probe and calibrate it. I doubt the problem is with your RK2, the probes sometimes don't last very long.
Toshas79 Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 Maybe. Something is certainly not right. Try putting the probe in tap water and see what it reads. What tap water should show? what's the ph of tap water?
Mr. Fosi Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Tap water should be in the neighborhood of 6.0-7.0. Tap water with a pH of 5.5 would be bad for your teeth. 11.88 would be more than enough to kill everything in there in a matter of hours, so I think your probe is in error. Have you calibrated it?

Yes I did calibration twice, but maybe the brand is not the best I used Milwoky, maybe there is a better brand
