Like it to be clean so it works at its best when needed. 1 Quote Link to comment

amphipod
What tha he'll is thaIs a size about a nail it is a nudibranch, humanely kill it because you can't sustain it, and many species only eat corals of certain species. Quote Link to comment
olemanwinter
Just a note. On page one it states: "Flatworms: (Not all are bad, clear ones are harmless) HARMFUL Usually a rusty red color (clear flatworms are harmless and algae grazers) and can over take a tank easily. Removal is tricky, as they can release toxins when killed, using a air line tube, suctioning these out is the best method. " I would like to suggest a small edit. The clear/white Flatworms feed on the very small copepods that some will be trying to support for species like mandarins and leopard wrasse. If you are keeping fish like those or trying to support a pod population for another reason, then you definitely want to remove any of the white flatworms you find. Quote Link to comment
elusianzxelo
actual is not the size of a nail, is more a 1/4 size of a dime and it looks like it has shield on top of their body and it glows green under the blue light. Quote Link to comment
seahorsedreams
It's absolutely a coral eating nudi. Dispose of it and watch for others and their eggs. Quote Link to comment

lostsol95
Hi, I went through the 16 pages and haven't been able to identify this type of algae-like strings yet, just hoping it's not dinoflagelletes. It seems banded green and black, but some just look green, they are attached to a piece of rock in the pics. Thanks Quote Link to comment

malacoda
Anyone have any idea what these strange snowflake-shaped growths might be? I've searched just about every forum, thread, and site I can think of trying to find something similar but haven't had any luck... When I first got the paly frag a couple of months ago I noticed 3 or 4 little pinhead-sized tufts on a stalk but didn't think much of it. Over the course of 4-6 weeks 1 or 2 more appeared. Then, when I returned from being out of town for 10 days I found they had not only exploded into the large snowflake-shapes all over the paly frag, but also all over the stalk of a candy cane/trumpet coral. Almost look kind of like egg sacs - but took awfully long to 'bloom' or spread if that's what they are (not sure if the 'pod' or whatever it is is associated with them - three of them came off the frag when I re-dipped in an attempt to clean the other stuff of the stalks)... anizato
Hi everyone! I have this stupid algae in my tank that no one I have asked knows what it is. I have GFO/Carbon running in a BRS Reactor. Parameters are: pH 8.3 CA 420 Mag 1480 Alk 7.5 1.025 Since the Reactor was added in January, there has been some significant receding from this nasty stuff. But it still keeps coral from growing and as you can see, my frag rack is infested with this stuff... it is the worst part of the tank, but 80% of the rock surfaces are covered in this sh8!! I made a 5 second video that captures this stuff. Thanks for any help. Quote Link to comment
JavaJacketOC
OK, I can't find this one. Any ideas? EDIT: I should say I recognize it's a nudibranch, but I've never seen one so... plain. Check under and around the base of all of your monti's for small ball/oval eggs, look for any slight fuzzyness or white spots on all of your montis. I had monti eating nudi's when the 5g pico was set up and it was a lot of work to get rid of them, they were just white/offwhite, similar look to this one. They could be zoa eating as well so blast your zoas and look for more juvies/adults and eggs. What have you recently added to your tank? Quote Link to comment
ratMoose
Good afternoon Ladies and gentlemen. I'm pretty new to this whole hobby, and set my (small) tank up on Monday. 48 hours later - and and I already have some questions about hitchickers! I'd be really grateful if anyone could help! There were some glass anemones which I fed aipasidol to (at least I think hope I got them all), but there are a few other things in my tank I'm a little nervous about. http://i.imgur.com/GuY7lv7.jpg Some kind of flatworm? It's biggest dimension is about a centimeter http://i.imgur.com/sx0nJS8.jpg This one was taken before the tank cleared, but i can't get a better photo at the moment. It looks like a bunch of eggs, but they're clustered on a wider white object. Again, maybe a centimeter tall. Looks smaller today... http://i.imgur.com/UjlqXFu.jpg This one is some kind of filtering worm? if it comes out further you can see black stripes as well as brown. When it disappears a little white tube (with a flat 'hole') remains. I assume this one at least isn't a problem... I've also seen what I think is a bristleworm, but it dissappeared quicker than I could blink - let alone get a camera out. My tank is a 35L, and the worm was about 3 inches when extended (it moved between two rocks), maybe an eight of an inch wide. It was brown, looked segmented, and left a trail of slime/mucus strong enough to have sand grains stuck in/supported by it. Should I be concerned about that one? Is it going to get any bigger? There are a few much smaller bristleworms which are pink/red with visibly white bristles. Maybe a sixteenth wide, no more than an inch long (I caught one moving around). Should I be worried about these? I hear they can really sting... Thanks! There was a snail hanging around in there too, but I can't see him. There are also a couple of bivalves still alive, and a couple more dead. Quote Link to comment
