swordfish
It is time for me to get some info from the pros about what to feed the average NR soft coral. I have a minbow 7 which has been a well established fish-only tank for months now, the lighting upgrade which will allow me to add some corals at last is going to arrive via UPS tomorrow. Th eadition of a few corals is, of course, hopefully just around the corner. Insdtead of allowing the LFS to try and sell me enough checmicals by Kent Marine to choke a buffalo, I thought it better to ask here about what I *really* need. Also, what part do corals play in the bio/filtration cycle of the tank? I have heard they do not stress--but rather benefit--the water quality, unlike fish, since they help with filtration and breakdown of nitrites, etc . Is this true? Thanks, JCS Link to comment
supernip
This is what I used and it works great. I really recommend it. Ecosystem's Reef Solution. Everything but calc. I dose it daily and it really kicks ass. Also helps the fishes. I also like the kent liquid calc but it's too expensive so I switched to kalkwasser. I hate kalkwasser. But yeah, thats all I use Reef Solution and Calcium Link to comment
swordfish
Can you please elaborate on the issue of a reef's need for calcium? Also, do most reefers dose their tanks daily with some reef-sustaining solution like the one you mentioned or do others do it less? How do you know how much to dose? Thanks, Jeff Link to comment
