spanko
Your fuge light should be on a reverse time scheule from your display. If your display lights are on from 8 am to 10 pm then the fuge lights should be on from 10 p, to 8 am. This will allow your chaeto to utilize the nutrients so that there will be less for the diplay algae. Link to comment

spanko
Clown should be easy, wait until it is sleeping and get it with a well placed net grab. Not sure about the chromis. Link to comment
crad190
the problem is my clown NEVER sleeps!!!! lol] but heres some updates: Moved my Duncan: Ring of Honor: Link to comment
joesmoe517
lol, i'm pretty sure no fish sleep... i think they go into "a state of quiescence" where they're still awake and moving but partially unresponsive because they shut off parts of their brain to rest (just like dolphins). I would just get him used to feeding from your hands and give that badboy a nice swipe one time. if the chromis are aggressive eaters you can debarb a hook and put some meat on it to snag them, should be pretty harmless...i've done it in my roommates 72ga bowfront a few times. crad190
thanks for your help.... but do u know of any premade traps that work really well? or any homemade ones? thanks i'm just tired of trying the net Link to comment
joesmoe517
actually yea i trapped a peppermint shrimp with a 16 oz water bottle with a small 1" (or big enough for your fish to get in) square notched out of the bottom. Keep the cap on the bottle, put it in the water and let it fill up with water. then you take a peice of frozen food and put it in the bottle, let it float to the top so the fish has to go all the way up in the bottle to get it (i used frozen because i knew it would float up to the top and make it easier to catch him). Then just cap the hole with your hand once he's in there and pull it out. HTH Link to comment
crad190
ok i set that trap..... how long did it take the trap to catch it? Link to comment
joesmoe517
i waited for it to smell the food and it eventually went in, remember this was a scared little peppermint shrimp and not a pompous ballsy clownfish so it took about 20-30 minutes for me to finagle him in there. I think if the bottle trick works for you it will take less than 5 minutes, any more than that and its probly not going to work. If it doesnt theres a product called "The Trap" that we loan out to people at work, you can find one and try it. it is a clear cylinder with a trap door that you slide up with fishing line and the let the line go when the fish goes in.
