X-Ravin
I'll be getting a skimmer for my BC29 sometime in the future and I'd really like one of the Sapphire skimmers custom made for the BC29. There's the BC29 which s just a basic skimmer, and then there is the BC29R which is a recirculating skimmer. What is the performance difference between these two, and is the extra $40 worth it? travisurfer
recirculating skimmers are substantially better; however, i have not tested the sapphire skimmers myself Link to comment
X-Ravin
Hmmm I may just save up and get the recirculator. Thanks for the reply! Link to comment

I too am curious if the BC29R is worth the $40 price difference... Anyone else have input? basser1
I have had both models. IMO, the recirculating model is worth the extra dollars. With the BC29R, the skimmer is not as picky about water level as the other model seems to be. Plus the regular model requires a "break-in" period where there may be some micro-bubbles in the tank. I have not had any micro bubbles with the BC29R. The pump for the BC29R sits above the water level, running cooler. Also Kyle, with SapphireAquatics, is in the process of getting a patent for an improved impeller that will improve the performance of the BC29R skimmer even more! HTH!! Link to comment
