Or you can try just getting one powerhead and doing some DIY stuff. Put on a spray bar to the powerhead so you only use one. If you really want to conceal it, maybe put the powerhead behind rocks and have the spray bar going upwards and cut some holes only at the top.

I have a 12 gallon that has only one rio 90 with no attachments.  Would it be better to put on something to have the water sprayed at a wider area?  Thanks for the help!

Idkayak your tank looks like it is off to a great start. I was setting up a 5 1/2 but couldn't figure out a good lighting setup. What are you using?

Hopsing it is better to use a spraybar of some sort. The ideal current for a reef tank is pulsating, on, off, on, off, so that your corals sway back and forth. The idea is for the current to bring them food, and then wash away their wastes.

This type current is created with powerheads controlled by "wavemaster" type devices that turn them on and off, powerheads that have swiveling outputs, buckets that fill up and then dump into the tank, and a variety of other clever methods. These are usually not appropriate on a small tank.  Most people use either a powerhead with spraybar or an outside filter with the medium removed or both.
