zizmans
I couldn't get a pic. It's a little pyramid shaped thing, kinda looks like a barnacle. It's white at it's base and dark brown on the top. It's moving across some coraline algea and leaving a trail behind it right down to the rock. Link to comment
sjpresley
Probably a limpet, and probably doesn't look like a barnacle....otherwise it would look like a filter feeding bivalve (though they are arthropods) that is sessile. Link to comment
zizmans
It sort of looks like a small barnacle with no hole. Link to comment
Satchmo
I think you're confused as to what a barnacle is. It's a bivalve (like a little clam). They have no holes. I think you're referring to a keyhole limpet (looks like a slug with a tiny volcano on it's back). I agree with Slapnutz. There are a few species of limpets that can chow corraline, and that sounds like what you have. Link to comment
sjpresley
Satch, I think you are a little confused too. Barnacle are not bivalves (as I said in my first post). They are arthropods, yes like grasshoppers, crabs, shrimp, etc. They artificially resembles molluscs, pretty cool huh. Link to comment
Satchmo
I stand corrected. That is pretty cool. Link to comment
