flow?

:) Has anyone here ever used the tunze nano stream or are currently using it? Im looking into purchasing it for my 10g tank but im a bit worried that it will cause much too much water movement.

It states that it is capable of 2500gph but also says that it is suitable for aquariums from 40lts and up. This sounds like a lot of comotion in a small tank.

Any info?

its actually 2500 lph not gph. 660gph which would circulate your entire tank 66 times per hour. belive it or not, some of the members here have a higher turnover rate than that.

however, i believe the tunze has a flow ajustment, for smaller aquariums. :)

"The speed of the Turbeller nanostream 6055 can be controlled by a Singlecontroller or a Multicontroller; in addition, they have been provided with a fish care function in case of motor standstill. "

i'd start with something cheaper and smaller to see how your flow dynamics work, rather than plunking down oodles of money for something that might be overkill (maybe not since it is adjustable).

your aquascaping (i.e. rock) is the main determining factor of how your system looks and functions dynamically. bio-wise it depends on the diversity and creating a complete ecosystem. but imo, they're linked together at different levels too.

set your rockscape into place and configuration. then start looking at how the water flows and what adjustments you might need to make, i.e. shifting the rock, getting more, taking out, re-shaping, adding flow, subtracting flow, etc.

the typical cycling period is a good time to make these adjustments. most livestock can't be introduced during a typical 'hard cycle' so you're left to really just look and wait. you can take that time period to adjust the layout (in a way, it's actually like real nature/reefs but condensed from thousands of years). hth

thanks.

so its lts an hour and not gallons. Like you both state this could be alot of flow for my tank. I think i will have a play about with the flow like you have sugested and see how things go.

Do people really have higher turn over rates than 66g an hour?
