My thought is some kind of star, except he's got six stumpy leg like things...granted I'm no expert, but that seems like one too many. He's actually the second thing to crawl out of my rock today after a month and a half, the second being some freaky worm that I didn't get a picture of. Link to comment

sjpresley Posted March 24, 2003 Share Posted March 24, 2003 It is an Asterina. Most (<95%) Asterina are detritivore/grazers. There are some that do eat corals. Usually these are not the ones that hitch-hike in on LR. I would just keep an eye on it and see if it bothers anything. Chances are, it won't. By the way, there are a lot of stars that have more than 5 legs. Asterina typically have 5-7, there is no hard and fast rule with these guys. Link to comment
