I bought a 14 Led kit from aquastyleonline.com and finally put it together this past weekend with a ton of help from MrWoo.

Kit includes:

-1 x Heatsink 12cm(W) x 3cm(H) x 40cm(L) (4.7"W x 1.2"H x 15.8"L)

-14 x 3 watts Bridgelux LED (6 White 10000K, 6 Blue 452-455nm, 2 Violet 420nm)

-12 x 60 degree optics

-1 x constant current LED driver

-2 x heatsink plaster

-1 meter wire

-2 x wire connector

-1 x power cord

-2 x hanging wire

Trip to radio shack for Solder, Flux, Wire, Heat Shrink.

Spaced out the leds on the heat sink and plastered them to the heat sink. Next started cutting the wires and stripping the ends and fluxing them. Soldered them in a series + - + - all the way around.

Test Fire to make sure it worked! Blinded by the light!

Mounted the heat sink into the sunpod and wired up the old power cord.

Pretty cool! I didn't know there was a kit for that conversion. Do you have the link for this kit? Is that a 20" sun pod you converted?

nice work. I am working on the same thing but on a 30" unit.

ditch the optics

Yes in this case i would say lose the optics - hang on to them however - you may want to spot light specific sections on a rock for sps -

i agree, looks like too much spotlighting with the optics. Really cool idea!

There isn't a kit i just bought it form someone on here and got lucky it just barely fit. Its a 16-1/2" sunpod...i thought it was a 20" until i got the kit and the heat sink just barely fit... kinda failed for not measuring the housing when i received it from the seller but it happens.

I used the two mounting brackets that hold the 70w mh in and just drilled two hole centered on both sides of the heat sink and found screws that were long enough and fit the thread in the brackets. Do you have a build thread? L brackets are really easy to work with!

How did you mount the actual heatsink?

That's the only thing I haven't quite figured out in a DIY hood.
