JBM
Petco had there $1 a gallon sale, so I said WTH. Time for a upgrade. Tank is a Aqueon 20 long tank, measuring 30x13x12. Stand is a very very old Ethan Allen tv stand, that my very very old 30" tv sat atop. Didnt have the heart to throw it away, so im putting a reef atop it. Plans are to transfer everything from my 5g aio over to the new 20l (once cycled of course). Everything with the exception of the sand, tank & stand have been bought from a member or sponsor here on NR. Equipment: -Aqueon 20 long -Custom 20 led fixture (more on that later) -2 koralia evolution 1050's on a wave maker -Red Sea deluxe prizm protein skimmer -Ocean Pulse Duo wave maker -modified air pump as ATO -20 pounds of sand -20-25 lbs of reef cleaners rock Live stock plans: Blue spot Jawfish & condo yellow watchman goby & pistol shrimp pom pom crab possibly some sort of firefish various zoas various ricordeas macro algaes various lps eventually once the tank settles & surpasses the 6-7 month mark, i will venture out & get a clam of some sort. obligatory teaser pic (10/15/2010) 10/18/2010 10/22/2010 10/23/2010 12/8/2010 12/21/2010 12/26/2010 1/25/2011 Link to comment

JBM
Trumpets Blare! Crowds Cheer! A Confirmation email from info@nanotuners.com is on its way ok, so some info on the custom led fixture. About 3 months ago i had the chance to pick up some supplies for a led build. So i built my first led fixture for my 5.5g aio. The idea here with my 20l is to build another identical fixture, thus saving $180 & allowing me to keep the first fixture, but re-use it. The specs 24v 6.5A portans power supply (2) 10x6.5x1 heatsinks (12) cree xre rb led (8) cree xre cw led (4) 1000mA dimable buck puck. Each heatsink will have 6 royal blue leds & 4 cool white leds. Arranged in this pattern rb cw rb cw rb rb cw rb cw rb i hope to put it in a wood canopy & "float" it over the 20 long. By float i mean there will be a space in between the canopy & the top of the tank. Link to comment

JBM
Got the rock in today, couldnt help my self but to stack the rock Originally wanted to go with 2 islands in this tank. Couldn't pull it off to where i liked it (and i've been at it for 2 hours) This was the first attempt at stacking it in the normal fashion. it'll probably change a bit, but in this layout it gives me atleast 16" of left to right space for a jaw fish burrow right in the front of the tank. with a 4" rock to glass clearance in the front. I could push it all back & have more frontal sand space, but i dont want to lay the rock on the back glass. Link to comment

JBM
Bought 2 sticks of aqua puddy & 2 tubes of loctite 409 gel for $22 shipped. Going to make most of my rock structure permanent. This is to ensure that the diggers (jawfish & pistol) don't cause any cave ins. The left overs will be for mounting my corals. Link to comment

Dasani
2 koralia 1050's?!? You do realize that is 2100 gph of flow? Most people say 5x-10x the tank volume. My dad has a 1050 in his 75g and it blew the crap out of everything. Knocked about 5 frags over. He has to aim it at the glass to reduce the flow. I would go with 2 240's. Link to comment
jtgordon20
I have a 750 in a 20H and it doesn't blow anything over, its aimed across the tank and i have an aquaclear 700 on it and a Koralia nano for a dead spot in the middle. And my brothers 20L has a 1230gph powerhead and if you aim it right it won't do much harm. Just have to get the right placement. Link to comment
