Hoonie778
Hola!!! Around mid January (had to check my testing log to find out when I started!!) I got a 24G Nano-cube Cycled it for 4 weeks (which was probably a little long due to the saltwater being from the LFS and the liverock being very cured with tons of corraline all over it!) Added in fish/coral with a few weeks inbetween each (to try and ease the bioload and let the bacteria levels adjust) Soo... here's my setup so far 20lbs Tonga and Fiji live rock 20lbs live sand Temp is ~80 degrees 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate ph 8.0 I do water changes religiously once a week, and I actually like doing them! My fish are: Major Grumpyface and Colt (YWG and Pistol pair) Comrade Jesus (Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse) Professor Swimmingtons (BW Clown male) Lady Isis (Clown female) My CUC consist of: Colonel Spikeface (Tuxedo Urchin) Winthrop (Hitchhiker Stomatella) Noodle (Cleaner shrimp) 2 Pom Pom crabs 1 Feather Duster Worm Handful of snails, a stomatella, some hitchhiker brittle stars, and two blue-legged hermit crabs! My corals consist of: Crappy aptasia that I keep killing and they keep coming back.... grrrrr! Blue zoas Neon green candy coral Hammer Coral Red open brain coral Whew! I'm maxxxxxxed out on fish, but plan on adding some more corals and maybe a few interesting invertebretes! Huzzah! Link to comment
Hoonie778
Figured it out! So lemme know what you think! I like constructive critiscm. Tata for now! Link to comment
SiLkk
Looking good, for future you can use the code from photobucket and your photos will post in the thread for you. Link to comment
Hoonie778
Thanks! Anyone have suggestions on how to get great pics? My canon has an "underwater" function, which seems to just make everything look bluer... And then the "digital macro" function, but that one doesn't work with my shaky hands I guess (they always turn out so blurry, even when I have the item in focus... ARGHHH) Link to comment
Reefer Al
I like it. The snail is an Astria snail imo. That wrasse is gorgeous. I think you added things pretty fast, but it's all good if it's all good. The pincusion looks so weird with all the junk he's hanging on to And nice zoanthid sp. Link to comment
Hoonie778
Thanks Reefer Al! I saw the wrasse at the LFS and ended up buying him and having them hold him for me for almost a month... his coloring was just so vivid, and he's always flashing for no reason! When he sleeps at night he makes a cobweb type of cocoon all around himself. It's pretty neat. He started out very shy, but over the weeks he's been investigating my hand while its in the tank... and just being more and more social Link to comment
NanoReefNovice
Tank is looking awesome! Here's a picture of a neat snail (no idea what kind it is) Tiger Nassarius Pacific Snail http://www.marinesgardens.com/Dynamic/www/...g.php?cat_id=59 Link to comment
Reefer Al
Tank is looking awesome! Tiger Nassarius Pacific Snail http://www.marinesgardens.com/Dynamic/www/...g.php?cat_id=59 I don't think that's what it is. It really has the markings of new turbo/astria snail shell-growth, and it has the white flesh and shell with pink markings of an astria. just my opinion Link to comment
Hoonie778
It has a conical shell, so I think it probably is an Astrea snail! They're such pretty little snails... Though my urchin does like to pick them up and take them for rides sometimes.... I have to keep a close eye on him... Regardless, Thanks everybody! Link to comment

Hoonie778
Haha I hate it when my boyfriend is right and I'm wrong I kinda wish it were the snail you said it was, cause that one looks neat! Link to comment
NanoReefNovice
I hate it when my boyfriend is right and I'm wrong First time for everything. I kinda wish it were the snail you said it was, cause that one looks neat! My wishful thinking too i guess. I want one too! Link to comment
Hoonie778
Here are some neat pics I took today! Here is my Tuxedo Urchin having a snack of dried brown seaweed... yummers. He grabs it right out of my hand, and always comes to the same place to be fed. So neat! I thought I had experienced my first death today in my tank But turns out, it was just a molting from a Blue Legged Hermit! Major Grumpyface and Colt sure are photogenic: This little sucker just popped up, no idea what it is, I'm going to look and see if I need to kill it: Found another one too, I think this one is going to be killed for sure: Tata for now! Those arms on their side are cool, they help them flip themselves over if they fall. Link to comment
Hoonie778
Oh yes, those little Aiptasia's are going downnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn I'm kinda excited about the prospect of purposely killing something in the tank... I'm like an overlord..... muuuAHAHAHAHA. Oh the power!!! I wondered about the snail sidearms!! Awesome! Link to comment
Reef Lobster
Looking good! I really love your Tuxedo Urchin, they've always been one of my favorites - I love how they dress themselves up hahah.. what's your plan for the Aiptasia? Are you going to wait for your wrasse to do them in or go the Joe's Juice/Lemon Juice route? Link to comment
Hoonie778
Probably lemon juice My wrasse does not seem interested AT ALL in them So I shall protect my mini-ecosystem and KILL KILL KILL! Link to comment
Hoonie778
I killed 'em! Killed the little aiptasia bastards! muuuAHAHAHAH Now I just need to superglue down my green candy coral. My Tuxedo Urchin, Colonel Spikeface, keeps taking it for rides around the tank..... Link to comment
Hoonie778
I am a killer! A successful one at that So on Friday I picked up some neon green candy coral At least I think that's what it's called... all these different names for the same thing, so confusing!! Well, I think it's pretty. I ended up finding a place in my LR to wedge it in, so no epoxy or glue needed (knock on wood) My little urchin is a rascal when it comes to trying to wear coral, snails, crabs.... all as hats! So now I shall let the tank rest. Get acquainted with itself. All water parameters are still at 0. But I've been doing a 20-30% WC every week. All goes well, I'm going to get a pair of false perc's sometime next week or the week after probably. Two tank raised. One orange, one black and white. My LFS has graciously ordered me them from ORA so they're all tank raised and happy! Huzzah! Link to comment
NanoReefNovice
Well, I think it's pretty. OOOOOO...... AAAAAAA. Awesome color! Link to comment
Hoonie778
It looks super neat under the moonlights!! And when I feed the tank, it's little tentacles come out and grab up food. Awesomeness. Link to comment
Hoonie778
The first death in my aquarium occurred. It was a suspicious death. (Both my Tuxedo Urchin and one blue legged crab were feasting on your carcass.... but were you already dead or did they kill you!??!) I shall be investigating to figure out the culprit. In the meantime, the time for grief is upon us. Goodbye Turbo Snail. Rest in peace in the garbage can I put you in. Here is a little haiku I have written in your honor: leerily roaming gypsies sluggish, frantically sad chimeras cry Link to comment
NanoReefNovice
My deepest condolences. Link to comment
