buccaneerreef
I have been at this for over a month and everything is going okay. I bought a preowned reef and took everything including the water. The tank did not cycle, or not that I could tell, as it was only down for 5 hours or so. I have resisted to add anything until recently. 2 clowns for my 3yr daughter and 4yr son and a peppermint shrimp. I recently added the Tunze9002 (used SteveiT's Mag Mod and Tunze Cup Upgrade) and StevieT's media rack although I only have the sponge and filter pad running. Getting good skimmate. Nothing in the chamber of death. Added the hydor deflector and korilla 2. I have not added any corals other than what came with the purchase to date. I have leathers x2, xenia x4, mushrooms, green star polyp, assortment of zoas and a toadstool leather (not looking good? - seems to have shrunk) - I have read the threads and will watch closely - nothing obvious that I can tell of. Also have 3 red legged hermits, assortment of snails and some starfish. I am taking the xenia to the LFS, I am not that interested in it, growing like crazy and will be looking to replace with possibly a frogspawn or torch coral. Looking to add other colorful corals, a skunk cleaner shrimp, and a couple of more fish when ready. Here are a couple of pics: Link to comment
StevieT
Very nice start. I think you will be very happy with taking the xenia back, it can get out of control. Hope the rack and cup are serving you well. Link to comment
buccaneerreef
The rack and cup were as advertised. No isnstallation other than sliding in the rack and replacing the original cup. I think you did mention in your threads to lower the tunze to below the water line mark which I did and the back lid shut perfect and performance of the skimmer is the same IMO. The xenia came with the tank and the 4 colonies have doubled or tripled in size. The LFS will give me something in trad for it so they can have it. Aren't you supposed to be on vacation? Hurricane interrupt? Link to comment
EnjoiFish
Looks good so far. It's nice that it came pretty bare bones. Leaves a lot more room to personalize and get the stuff you really want in the tank. What other fish are you thinking about getting? Link to comment

What other fish are you thinking about getting? wish list icludes either bangaii or pajama cardinal, goby or blenny, and depending on the line up and compatibility a royal gramma bassllet. Will not exceed 4-5 as recommended and I am really more interested in corals at this point. Link to comment
StevieT
I keep my Tunze at the water level mark. It seems to produce the same a little above or a little bellow, but the water line should be the guide. I am off of work today, I fly out tomorrow 6am. :: for dodging the hurricanes. Link to comment

buccaneerreef
FTS 02-12-09. Added green birdsnest frag and oragne monticap frag. Will be placing monti when I determine a good location for it. I will start adding corals more frequently and keep the photos updated. Link to comment
StevieT
I would look into sticking it below and to the right of that birdsnest. It will do good up high close to the lights, and grow out, not up Link to comment
buccaneerreef
I was going to pick up another piece of rock to place on the other side to get some height there and place on the left. Not sure how long I can leave it down on the bottom? Do you make a frag rack of any sorts with inTank? I would rather buy than make when it comes down to it. Link to comment
StevieT
I have made some for my tank, just used eggcrate and some suction cups. There is a member here that makes "mag racks" http://www.blackrockreef.com/ I like the idea on the rock, I would get it up there pretty quickly, it won't do well down on the bottom, not enough light for SPS Link to comment
buccaneerreef
I went ahead and ordered the small one. They look very well made and the black should not stand out. I will post pics when I receive it in the tank. Link to comment
buccaneerreef
added 4lbs of rock to add some height and today picked up some new corals. added pink birdsnest, blasto, eagle eye zoa, psamacora and some gsp. I am going to try growing the gsp on the back glass, it has not opened back up but I am sure it will. I have 8 zoa frags coming in that I ordered on line this weekend and will post pics when they come in. new rock work FTS Blasto Link to comment
buccaneerreef
New Frag Rack from Blackrock Reef. Very happy with this. www.blackrockreef.com many different sizes. I got the small one, could hold about 19 frags if needed. Great option if you do not feel like making one yourself. Have some of my new zoa frags on it. Link to comment
