okay. my lights just turned on. guess what I found. my damsel. dead. -_-

it was in there for only 12 hours. sheesh.

I'd like to point out that I've had hermits in my mantis tank for weeks and he hasn't eaten them yet.

oops... that's what I get for skimming posts. the top tank has a Current brand Satellite 18w PC fixture - 12". has a lunar led too. you can get em on nanotuners or marinedepot.com.

Maybe a necropsy should be performed? It was a good looking damsel.

Funny you mention this. I have a friend that wanted to get into this hobby but he was just not understanding the fundamentals. Well he asked me "What do you do when a fish dies on you". I said to him "Well remove him from the water and you might, just might want to do a little water change". He asked me if i needed to do an autopsy :haha: This guy...

Man Tigah, that damsel was sweet looking. Sorry about the loss. The tank is looking awesome and can't wait to see the finished product.

Folks, just FYI: autopsy is for people... necropsy is for animals. I didn't know that until a short time ago and thought I'd pass it along.

The damsel was an orange honey chromis. I used to have one myself, coolest looking fish Ive bought for five bucks.

Here's a full system shot...

Cleaning the acrylic was pretty hard, so I had to reaquascape just a little on the right side. just chiseled off a chunk of the LR. much easier to get to the front panel now.

took these pics to demonstrate surge/wave cycle...

low tide

surge

This cycle takes approximately 30 seconds to complete. And the intensity of the surge/wave is variable between cycles.
