Tigahboy
here's a better photo of the nearly finished overall set-up... thanks for compliments. dhoffroad - workin on improving the "return" line (hence the absence of it in the photo), so I'll have a better assessment once I finish it up. stay tuned. and I'd like to add that this pico has been a PITA to set-up! such small space to plumb w/...I botched the plumbing so many times, I was about to throw in the towel. Tigahboy
yeah. just haven't made up my mind on what kinda substrate to use. I've always used fiji pink from day one, but maybe I need to change it up a lil. Link to comment

Tigahboy
oh, and the LR is all fiji premium - about 2-3 lb. of it - and I used hammer and smaller sized chisel to "sculpt" and break the large chunks into workable pico-sized LR pieces. pic of LR again... kev - thanks! Link to comment

GrizzleBee's
Holy crap... So does this thing have tides? When the surge tank above gets filled up the water in the display goes down right? I gotta say.... My tidepool may not have the best equipment, But I'll try and make the best looking display with what I've got! 05'!!! Link to comment
scarf_ace1981
as always i'm amazed at the craftmanship and simplicity of your tanks tigah. sick just plain sick. Link to comment
tinyreef
yeah. just haven't made up my mind on what kinda substrate to use. I've always used fiji pink from day one, but maybe I need to change it up a lil. yeah, i gottah think the surge will blow that sand all over the place. fiji pink's my pers fav too. how about black? like coos did. you could've done the bottom pane in black acrylic and then not worried about the (black) sand being kicked up into dunes and piles. i thought the setup was going to be different than that layout. i thought you were going to surge from one side and "take-out" from the other. i.e. one-way wave action. does this setup allow for a more natural "wave-in" surge and "wave-out" recede? it looks like that's the concept. are you going to have a cover? that surge looks close to the edge! surf's up! Tigahboy
well, I'm going to give this Tahitian Black Sand a try. I'm sure it's gonna be a PITA to keep clean, but oh well. Link to comment
