Thanks Do you have a tank thread here, I saw some pics of your tank on another thread and it looks incredible. If you don't have one, you should start one, like to see more details on what you are doing. Link to comment

NanoTopia
Oh no! Now big is the population? How much damage so far? I figure 3 colonies, just filed my A. prostrata colony under "G". One millepora is messed up and a Valada looks like it will join the A. prostrata soon. The millepora might make it, but these corals are glued and puttied in quite well, if I have to rip them out, it wont be for a dip. I have a red planet and cali tort that looks unaffected thus far, a stag and a A. gomezi mini colony that i"m not 100% sure about. Looks like it might be a Monti reef in the near future. NanoTopia
I'm sorry, Christine. You're so careful, too. Thanks Shelley, you can be careful all you want, dip and inspect, but these guys may still make it in to your tank. The only way to protect your reef is to QT SPS for a couple of months. Not something most people are set up to do. Link to comment

pyronus
Hey, you can easily get rid of it just by adding a six-line wrasse...lol Not true, not all wrasses will eat the worms, most won't touch them unless is the only food source in the tank. Have you thought about sacrificing the CUC and dosing Interceptor? Link to comment
NanoTopia
This tank is beautiful, sorry to hear about the pests. Thanks jball, I appreciate your sentiment. Hey, you can easily get rid of it just by adding a six-line wrasse...lol IIX, I wish this were true but the fact is that although a six line wrasse may eat a AEFW when it is in the water column, it cannot eat the eggs or worms when they are attached to the coral. Blowing off the coral while it is in the display will only spread and distribute the worms throughout the aquarium to other Acros. Repeated dipping and basting are currently the best way to eradicate AEFW. I'm positive you can win the battle christine! Keep up the awesome work! Thanks David, I'm going to do my best. How goes? Dipping and basting began yesterday, keep you posted. I managed to rip a few Millepora out with minimal damage, the rest are staying put for now. Not true, not all wrasses will eat the worms, most won't touch them unless is the only food source in the tank. Have you thought about sacrificing the CUC and dosing Interceptor? pyronus, do you have any literature regarding interceptor and AEFW, I would be interested to read some. I have not heard of this treatment for AEFW. Will interceptor kill egg masses? Thanks all for your replies Link to comment
pyronus
Some people have had luck with interceptor killing the live worms, but some say that it does nothing. It will have no effect on the eggs though. Revive dips over a 3 week period for all colonies is the most effective treatment. Good luck! Link to comment
NanoTopia
This is an image I took yesterday with a magnifying glass of a A.prostrata. It shows the notorious bite makes left behind from AEFW's. This is a photo taken yesterday of A. millepora, was pink in colour. I removed a medium sized egg mass from deep inside the coral, never saw it on the first inspection. These eggs are hard to find sometimes. I am thinking this coral may make it thorough. More dips are ordered for this guy. Link to comment
Rehype
Today: AEFW tears01.gif Never a dull moment in this hobby. hang in there christine ive had them too and won the battle. I had to do remove the frag infected and do dips every 7 days with melafix marine (stuff is the best BTW) and i havent seen them since. I also have a melanarus wrasse for pest control. I think all heavy sps keepers should have one...they do a heck of a job. Link to comment
Nano sapiens
Ugh... Never had these little varmints...Red Bugs were bad enough for me. Good luck with getting rid of these pests. Link to comment

Never had these little varmints...Red Bugs were bad enough for me. Good luck with getting rid of these pests. Thanks Nano, the millepora has little tissue so it's ability to get energy is limited with photosynthesis alone, so will be having to target feed it to allow any chance of recovery. Red bugs suck as well but easier to eradicate overall. I have not had red bugs ever, just lucky I guess. I will keep everyone updated as to the progress. Link to comment
Nano sapiens
A. millepora are very popular with the AEFW crowd, unfortunately. Maybe those tantalizing, stringy polyps are just too good to pass up... Link to comment
Rehype
Thanks Rehype, what's the minimum tank size for melanarus wrasse? I should more accurately say Halichoeres leucoxanthus which is the actual species. But minimum recommended size is 50 gallons. If your looking for something smaller a six line wrasse is just as tenacious. Link to comment
