NanoTopia
LOLOLOL I think it is Acropora tizardi when is the Anniversary?? need a new FTS!! End of August will be a year the tank is up and running. AIMS describes tizardi like this. Thanks for your suggestion. Link to comment
Jessy-Ray
Wow thats not very far away!! Looking forward to the cake. Haha I don't really think it is tizardi, I was joking just pulled a random name out of the huge list. I have no experience whatsoever in identifying between different species if acropora haha Link to comment
Kfmmartin19
Is your tank as stunning in person as the pictures make it look?!? . What color are your LEDs? Would u recommend the vertex lights? Link to comment
NanoTopia
Awesome setup. Thank you snookman Is your tank as stunning in person as the pictures make it look?!? . What color are your LEDs? Would u recommend the vertex lights? Better!, haha Today there are so many LED's on the market, Vertex makes solid fixtures, the illumilux are lacking control features often found on comparable fixtures. Yes I recommend them but I would look at others on the market today. I have 3 strips, 2 are white/blue and 1 is blue. I only run the blue strip in the morning and at night. Link to comment
NanoTopia
Some closeups made by cropping, just experimenting, I really need a macro lens Link to comment

NanoTopia
great shots! Nice pics i need a macro lens too. beautiful coral btw Thanks all, I think we often miss the beauty and intricate texture of all coral, these close up's reveal the striation of the tissue, the part I find most fascinating. Rick684
I got some news for ya.... I HAVE a macro and the shots I take are no better than what you're producing! Amazing pics! Really great photography. Link to comment
NanoTopia
That is something, I am using a 18-55mm Nikon lens, shooting in RAW mode at 100 asa and cropping. I would think a macro might give a sharper image. Thanks for the reply. Link to comment

NanoTopia
i have a 18-55 on my nex3 and i cant get that lol. I am not sure what the nex3 is, my camera is a DSLR Nikon D3000. Does your camera have detachable lenses? Can you shoot in RAW mode? Link to comment
Rick684
Maybe, but not a whole lot better than you're doing with the short zoom; especially the way you're cropping. I have the 16-85 VR, 75-300 VR, and a 105/2.8 fixed macro VR on my D7000. You're doing just fine..... Link to comment

NanoTopia
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/SonyNex5Nex3 i do have detachable lenses and yes i can shoot in raw I don't see why you could not do this then, select 100 asa setting, use a tripod, shoot straight on to the coral from the glass, close to the glass. Shoot in RAW mode, bracket exposures, take a few shots focusing manually. Download and open the shot on RAW mode, (you might need imaging software, not sure), then correct the colour balance so white looks white or the highlights look white like white light, then adjust exposure, and add more black if necessary. Don't touch anything else. Save photo as JPEG 8 bit colour (this will reduce the file size substantially and allow you to upload the photo to Photobucket, Flickr, or whatever. DONE. Link to comment
