This is my type of tank!!

Any sort of aggression between tankmates? Especially between the clown gobies and flashers?

The blue neons chase each other quite a bit. I think Kat commented on this (about how my neons aren't in love)- so it might be in one of the videos I posted. One seems to have a barnacle that it guards pretty aggressively (the top of the jawfish home)... Sometimes others seem interested in going inside, but they always get chased away. Could be laying eggs?

The biggest flasher flashes nightly around feeding time (1-2 hrs before white lights go out) but that could be an attempt at impressing females. Since the other big one died of stress, I haven't seen any problems.

Yellow Clown and Green Clowns never interact- although now that I have larger SPS colonies in the tank, I have noticed them drawn to those... So there may be territory issues when I take the SPS from the frag rack to their new homes on the rocks. Green Clowns sometimes perch near each other, usually hosting torches... No aggression between them.

I could try to grow some GSP on a plastic sheet for you, then just glue the sheet to your wall?

No thanks, I've already got two big mats. Just trying to bend them to my will. ;)

Yeah thats why I was asking. Neons are not friends all the time  Are two of them guarding eggs? Or is it just that lone one?

I'm a little surprised about that. Clown gobies are generally mean to other clown gobies. It's probably because of the large tank size. That's cool!

It could be two guarding eggs... I never see all the neons at the same time, so they're hard to keep track of. I usually see just one tail sicking out of the barnacle.

And my clown gobies better keep getting along... Because there are a few more colors I want to stick in there. Might need to temporarily ban the more established ones to isolation if I get any more.

AM- got suggestions on other color morphs that stay small? I saw a citron (I think it was a citron, it was a cinnamon yellow/orange color) that was like 3 inches last week- way too big for my community. Had no idea they got that big.

I need to review Trimma and Eviota gobies more. There is defintely some species you'll like. Look on Diver's Den every night and there will definitely be a variation you'll like.

 I AM THE CHILI MASTER!

Finally got the perfect Chipotle Chili recipe figured out! After a few experiments this season- it's been narrowed down. Since I am so nice, I will share. :flower:

I'm serious- try this. It's college dorm kitchen friendly, if you have a crock-pot. I'll list the stuff you need for those who are living on Ramen and want something different.

It's more "flavorful" than "spicy-hot". I'm not into the whole gut burning thing. If you use Chipotle Tobasco sauce, this is the chili for you.

Equipment-

Extra Large Mixing Bowl

Large Frying Pan with Glass Cover

Spatula

Cookie Sheet

Oven

Stove Top

Sharp Knife

Cutting Board (having two makes life easier. One for meat with the channels for drainage, other for vegies)

Gloves (I use nitrile gloves any time I cook with hot spices or onions)

Crock-Pot

Can Opener

Ingredients-

51BWD-nWjXL._SL250_.jpg

^This is the ingredient I have been searching for. This must be Goya- everything else can be whatever brand you like, and it won't make much difference.

7oz can of Goya Chili Chipotles

16oz can of Black Beans

16oz can of Kidney Beans

(2) Two cans of Corn (mix it up, get one white, one sweet, something like that. The difference is texture adds to the dish)

(2) Two 16oz cans of Diced Tomatoes

(2) Sweet Peppers (I prefer one yellow, one orange- but any color will do)

(1) medium sized Sweet Onion

(5) Garlic Cloves (or crushed, diced, jarred equivalent)

2 Pounds Beef Chuck Steak

1 Pound Spicy Italian Sausage

Spices- Do these to taste. It's really hard to "over spice" chili. Start with a teaspoon of each and work your way up until it smells or tastes right to you.

Cumin

Coriander

Paprika

Chili Powder

Tumeric

Recommended sides-

Goya Yellow Rice

Velveeta Mac-N-Cheese

Egg Noodles

Instructions-

Open all cans 90% of the way, so that the top can act as a strainer while it's still attached.

Drain juice from Chili Chipotles into large mixing bowl.

Set all OTHER cans on their sides in the sink so they can drain the liquid out. Obviously, none of this liquid is needed.

Dice Chili Chipotles, sweet peppers and sweet onion to the size you like seeing in chili. I shoot for about 1/2" x 3/4" pieces. Chili Chipotles can be diced smaller if you want to avoid sudden hot bites in the chili. Place them in the large mixing bowl.

Finely chop or dice garlic cloves, add to mixing bowl.

Use gloved hands or utensil to mix everything in the bowl- then spread it evenly on the cookie sheet.

Place cookie sheet on highest rack in oven, then set to a low broil. You want to slightly dry, and slightly burn the veggies to get the top layer of them to be a little crispy and charred. Pay attention to the oven while proceeding with the next steps.

Add 1/2" of water to the large frying pan. Cook hot Italian sausages over medium high heat, flip every two minutes until they are well done. Check oven to make sure veggies aren't on fire.

Once sausages are done, put to the side to cool. DO NOT DRAIN WATER FROM PAN.

Add steak to the frying pan and cook over medium heat until outside is brown. I prefer a very tender steak in my chili, so I keep it on the rare side. If you want very defined harder meaty chunks, cook longer. Discard water from pan when you're done with the steak.

Remove veggies from oven if you haven't already. Your house should now smell AWESOME.

Slice and dice meats to whatever size you prefer.

Add ALL INGREDIENTS to the mixing bowl (don't forget the cans draining in the sink). Add spices to taste. Mix with gloved hands, or utensil.

Add everything to the Crock-Pot, set to MEDIUM and cook for 10 hours. Serve or chill when done.

This is a ton of food, and should last the average single dude about 5-7 days.

Came home today to a super cloudy tank. Just freaked the eff out...

Turns out my ATO res got too low and the pump was sucking kalk paste... pH bumped from normal 8.1 to 8.4.

Despite super cloudy water, SPS looks happier than ever, with fantastic polyp extension. Pics when I fix things.

I'm pretty sure Foster and Smith takes a loss every time I order from them. Who ever organizes their shipping... is nice to me, but horrible for their company's bottom line.

Just got 90 lbs of oolite shipped to me 2nd day air. :slap: When I ordered (and my CC statement reflects this) I only paid to have one piece of my order rushed. Instead they sent everything, 4 boxes total, super fast. Not complaining... Just sayin.

Anyway- added second mp40 (or rather, repaired my existing one and put it back on the tank). Everything but my euphyllia seems to be enjoying the increased flow. Clowns don't dare leave the slow current by the back wall now. Haha.

I'm beginning to regret having zoos and paly's all over the place in my tank... I wish I had the foresight to imagine how fast they would be growing compared to my LPS and SPS. And really, all the SPS I just got would be in the path of zoa expansion... Looks like I'm going to have to start trimming soon.

I always thought going SPS heavy would be a harder tank to maintain... But fragging could come at a snip of the pliers. These damn palys and zoos are going to be a mess of poison in the water.
