My bank account thinks I should have gotten an Octopus.

i wouldn't have gotten the SWC if I hadn't won the RC contest. it would have been an Octopus for me as well. just good timing i guess.

Nice skimmer. I love my XP1000 though. I really don't regret for getting it.

Also 3/16 or 1/4" for the baffles is better to work and safer not to break than 1/8". Can be done with 1/8" but is risky. After all set up and running, changing a broken baffle is a PITA

I built the sump with this skimmer in mind, but I left an inch of clearance on both sides to be certain I have enough room for maintenance. There is plenty of room above the skimmer with the sump in the stand so I wont have to tweak the it to get it out of there. I'm also going to plumb with hose except for the fuge flow part of the return, so hopefully that makes for easy sump care.

Thanks for lookin bitts. Hopefully the build turns out just like I have it all planned out.

Dislocated my shoulder Friday night in a mountain bike wipe out. Even so I managed to get some stuff done.

Father in law helping with the drilling. Drain is done, now for the return line. Talk about nerve wracking I go right for the big hole.

looking good. Now i'm starting to think whether I should plan on putting my skimmer in the sump too when I make it. oh the choices. and it there a distance between baffles that is better than any other or is that arbitrary?

I used some old double disc CD jewel cases as spacers, they are just about 1" thick so my baffle spacing is 1". The height of the high baffle is also 1" from the bottom of the sump.

What a day, I think watching someone else drill your tank is more nerve wracking than doing it yourself.

Fantastic! I can't believe you were able to get it all done, even with your shoulder out of commission.
