Mr. Microscope
finally.. Thanks for the support. Allright! Can't wait to see how it looks. Can't wait to see it with the LED's. Hopefully, it will inspire me to order my par38 sooner. Ohhh, there WILL be pics. Many pics. I'll be using my camera too instead of the iPhone. I'm gonna geek out on this thing (too late, I know)! I'll do the typical before and after shots plus a few extra. Heck, after all the waiting, I might just have some cake or break out a beer and share it with my lobster. Porcelains drink beer right? MORZA
Cool I was thinking about putting my chemipure in the stock pico filter and hang it off the AC70 but if it works underneath the chaeto that's even better. FYI I found a great fixture for the PAR38 from IKEA... don't know if you have one near by. It is only like 9 bucks. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20370383 Link to comment
yardboy
Be careful with that fixture. If the reflector covers any of the heat sink on the PAR38 it'll overheat and shorten the life on the LEDs. Link to comment

The shade part comes off. So, I shouldn't have the heating problem. Link to comment

Mr. Microscope
Okay everyone. Here it is! The moment you've been waiting for. Will it be a kaboom or a fizzle? Well, here we go. I installed the PAR38 today and took lots of pictures as promised. This light is INTENSE! Is anyone else seriously afraid that they're going to get a sun/radiation burn from one of these things? It actually hurts my eyes a little to look at my aquarium. I'm hoping that as I lower it down in the next few weeks that it will be better. As far as color goes, I have to admit, going from 10KK to 20KK is a bit of a shock for me, but I really like the glow I'm getting out of the GSP, Magicians, Radioactive Dragon Eyes, and others. I took several before-and-after photos before moving all my corals to the sandbed. As you can see, I'm still working on getting the pics to not look all blue, but I think I've got them pretty close. Current FTS 2010.04.06 Before: After: Before: Sorry a little out of focus After: Before: After: Before: After: And a couple more: On the ground. From above. I hope you've enjoyed the show. Thanks DulcyDoll! I'm planning to keep most of them on or near the sustrate in the longrun and maybe add some LPS like bubble coral or something up on the rocks so that nothing gets stung. I also noticed that my papaya clove frag was finally starting to bud a clove. It should be neon too. I'll post pics as soon as it comes out. Eventually, I'll have the light 6-8 inches above the waterline if I can get it there. I'm hoping there won't be so much bleedover into the rest of my office after that. Right now it's about a foot away. I haven't seen any adverse reactions from any corals yet. Hopefully the birdsnest won't bleach. Link to comment

After all, I kinda think I should have gone with the 12kk, but I'm still liking it. I have a feeling it's going to grow on me. But, yes, the spillover is a bit distracting. Hopefully as I move it down it will reduce a little. The shimmer in the tank is very nice though and subtle enough. The cool part is that the shimmer reflects on the ceiling. It's kinda pretty.
