Thanks for the last few submissions. We are at 87 listed DIY builds (plus two commercial). Almost at 100, and I know there are some people holding out ;)

Another NC 28 LED Retro - Affordable retro using SemiLED's and mostly left over parts

Forgot to ad my retro here. I've been using this build as is for about 2 months and have great results with my corals. At the moment I am still running at a max of 350mA on the LED's or roughly half their rated power and am getting I think a pretty respectable 130 PAR on the sand.

At some point here in the near future I'll reconfigure my drivers to get me to something closer to 700mA and more light output.

At current light levels, coral growth is going crazy in the tank so far :D

Nick, please delete your post. Apparently you didn't read the instructions at the begining of this thread. There is to be no discussion on this thread. Only posts of your complete LED project. If you want the question answered, post it somewhere else.

Deadly-Teddly

Here is my first LED setup....im slowly getting more...this is just a start. 3 royal blue XR-E leds wired in series with the on/off switch wired on the DC side. they're being powered by a walwart thats 9V DC and 300mA its direct drive but at that low of a current, and the fact that with no load the wart held a steady 9 volts. its on 24/7 pretty much for several months now.

First and Foremost i wanted to say my thanks to Evil. without his guidance and advice my led diy wouldn't be possible. THANKS EVIL!

I have just completed a diy led on a cree 3x3 array for my 11"x11" cube tank. The fixture is custom modified from existing PC setup. Here are the pics.

Here are my new LED fixtures. They are just being used right now for actinic lighting. I have 12 XR-E RB's per fixture running at 700mA. They are attached with Thermal Adhesive instead of screws. They are powered with Meanwell drivers. The heatsinks do not get very hot at all!!!! Barely warm even!!! Which is good because I will probably replace my MH in the future by putting some XP-G Cool White's in the fixtures.

The fixtures are all aluminum. I have painted all of the aluminum black except for the heatsink for aesthetic purposes.

I've had this light done for about 3 months now, but I had issues with the old controller and it was set up over a 10g while I worked on this setup. The guts of the build consist of 6 CW and 6 RB Cree XR-E's with 2 of each mounted on a 60mm heatsink from LEDsupply with nanocustoms thermal pads. A 60mm fan is mounted to the top of each heatsink and then each assembly is mounted in the lamp head with some angle brackets. The lamp heads came from a floor lamp from wally world that a roommate left behind. They are mounted to an electrical conduit stand with all but the fan wires run internally(I'll get to the fan wires one day and clean it up). Two meanwells power the LEDs and are controlled by a Typhon DIY controller designed by the guys over at RC.
