how do you keep the glass lid secured on the tank???

Superglue.

kidding kidding ... it's glass, so it's heavy ... and the 2x18Watt Current USA fixture sits on top of it ... so it won't budge unless you knock into it or something.

did u ship em out yet???

Of course! Yours is the only one that hasn't been delivered yet, ironically. I would check the tracking status, but USPS' tracking site is down at the moment. Check your mail today - it should be there! When I checked last night, it was in GA or something.

Can't wait to see picks of the Green Clown. BTW, I got that 1st generation glass top and it was packaged sooo well. Looks great on my coworkers tank. I'm going to silicon a couple of slits of clear plexi to the bottom to help hold it on the top as his light just sits on the top and doesn't "hold" it in like the legs on the current lights. Thanks for the great buy :)

Thanks! Yeah - as far as packaging goes - I didn't want to take any chances! I'm glad it arrived safely. Let me know how the slits on the bottom work ... and I'd love to see a snapshot of it. That's the same design that I keep contemplating, but I haven't got around to executing it yet.

USPS tracking service is worse than useless. Even if the website was up, I wouldn't expect any info. The only time I ever see that page updated is when it's delivered!

Quick update ...

My coral isn't happy. It's not super pissed off, but it's not throwing coral parties either ... I need some suggestions. My Zoanthids are only partially opened most of the day ... I supposed I could attribute this to the Sexy Shrimp, but I have a feeling something else is going on too.

My Rics are doing okay, but in my BC14 at home, they are much larger and bubbly. My GSP even closes sometimes during the day.

I change .5 Gallons of water either once or twice a week. I just ran a test, here's what it looks like:

pH - 8.2

Ammonia - 0

Nitrate - 0

Nitrite - 0

kH - 9

Calcium - 380

So Calcium might be a little low -- other than that, things look okay.

I'm open to suggestions. I want this thing to thrive!

hmmmm... what is your salinity and temp running??(they need to stay very stable in these small tanks) what kind of flow? check and make sure your CUC isnt niping at them

Very good question -- I have a refractometer, and I test my salinity a couple times a week to make sure that my top-offs are spot-on. It really doesn't fluctuate much, maybe between 1.025 and 1.026 if that.

Temperature is fully regulared and sits almost dead constant at 78.2 degrees. I work in a data center, so our core temperature is of the utmost importance. So the room stays pretty steady, which allows the water to stay steady.

I freakin love them sexy shrimp...dumbed question, but do you see them do their little swaying dance a lot?

lol. jw.

And, maybe it's from the addition of the clown goby, he is kinda big for that tank, maybe you know, like he's goin godzilla on the coral tokyo and makin them mad? and maybe he's makin a lot of bioload for the tank?

But I dunno really.

he does add alot of bioload,, but your said you do .5 twice a week ,, thats more than enough WC. to keep the quality of water high..

Yes, that is. But, I mean, clown gobies like to perch and rest on all types of coral, so that's what I meant by godzilla on tokyo, he is so big and doesn't have any alternative corals or swimmin area.

hmmmmmmmmm..(scratching my chin) are you dosing any chemicals??

Nope. But maybe I should be?

That's the thing, he's still pretty shy ... so I never see him on coral. He perches on the sandbed most of the time, and sometimes on the liverock in the cave ... the only coral I've ever seen him perch on was the GSP after the Sexies had pissed it off, and it was just a purple mat.

The mystery continues ...

But - speaking of flow. I do have a little bump in there that I removed when I first put my glass lid on. So the only flow currently is from the AC70 (with the AC20 impeller).

I put the pump back in and re-situated the cord to add more flow. I'm at a loss ... so I figured I'd try it :)

LoL, I do see the shrimp dance! Everyone that comes into my office likes to watch them. They're fun!

So that's the thing though ... my Clown Goby and Sexies seem to be doing great. My Trochus snails, which were my first inverts in the tank are doing great too. Just the coral ... which makes me think of things like Calcium and such.

i have the a AC70 impellar in mine,,,unmodded set at medium... and the flow is perfect,,, i cant see how a AC20impellar will give you suffiecent flow..

Really? The AC70 impeller puts out crazy flow -- almost to the point that the water is splashing out of the tank ...

Set on the lowest level, the AC70 puts about about the same flow as the AC20 on the highest setting. I changed to the AC20 because was I was still use the top on the AC70 Filter, and when I was removing the top, I kept bumping the intake tube and turning the flow way too high.

With the AC20 impeller, I don't have to worry about that.

if he doesn't want them he should sell them or givethem away. If that doesn't work, zombo might get a few expensive treats for his mantis!
