travisurfer
tank inhabitants look great. have you considered moving the stacked rocks to the sandbed? the scape almost looks a bit too open imo Link to comment
Fishfreak218
hmm, im having a hard time grasping what you are trying to say. put the rock to the sandbed? Link to comment
Fishfreak218
So, my GF gets this amazing idea to take a bag of cotton candy, role/squish it into a ball and throw it into my ceiling fan. AFTER I TELL HER NOT TO THROW IT. she does. I looked over to my fishtank to see red granuales dissolving into the water... So yeah.. I hope everything is ok. This tank has some of my favorite peices in it Link to comment
kinktao
that's kind of hilarious and sad at the same time. Link to comment

travisurfer
anyway, i meant putting them on the sand to make for a cave wall effect but i dunno. it all depends on what YOU want it too look like. Link to comment
Fishfreak218
well.... the other day I put my hand in the tank and scared my clownfish. He swam right into my rock anemone, and obviously got stung. He kept going back in though and for the last few days he has been rubbing in the rock anemone.... its pretty cool. He is most likely going to host it! Link to comment
seabass
That's pretty cool; as might be expected, mine show no interest in my Rock Flower Anemone. Link to comment
ezcompany
any updates? is the clown hosting? Link to comment
Fishfreak218
No updates....the clown only hosts sometimes... I think the cut off date was a bad idea because since then the contests has been SOOO boring Link to comment

Fishfreak218
Summary: This tank has been through ups and downs, highs and lows, but I think we can all agree that it is definitely at its peak. I started this tank with stocking plans of fiddler crabs, anemone shrimp, and rock anemones. The only thing that didn’t stay in that plan was the fiddler crabs. I love rock anemones because they come in such bright colors, are easy to care for, and they are CHEAP. The anemone shrimp (Periclimenes brevicarpalis) are not as common as sexy shrimp or any of the larger shrimp varieties and are very beautiful. Often hovering about the tank, these shrimp definitely have personality and elegance. This tank started out with a LARGE chunk of live rock from my FOWLR and some rock from my seahorse tank. I stocked the tank with some odds and ends that I had lying around. Soon after, I changed the rock work and ended up with 20lbs. of sand and 11lbs. of Live rock. Then I took out all coral that was “just ok” or “looked out of place.” This tank went through a few stocking choices, from Maldives Clownfish, to a blenny, and now to a black saddleback clown, a damselfish, a neon goby, and an eviota goby. The clown is also hosting one of the rock anemones, which is unusual. I wanted to make sure this tank was not color dominated, so I tried to mix in every color possible. The main color was green, so I added the red brain, Dendrophyllia, and yellow “sun anemone” to keep the colors mixed up. About mid way into the contest I changed my Aqua clear 20 into a fuge, which is lit with sunlight since the tank is directly in front of my window. This was not a problem, and the cheato and codium spp. algae did fine under the sunlight. This tank never had any serious algae problems until recently where some red macroalgea from a frag was introduced. It has spread throughout the tank like wildfire. This algea must not be highly dependent on nutrients because I don’t have high nutrient levels. In pictures it is barely noticeable but in person it can be quite an eye sore. Equipment list: -10g. AGA tank painted with blue Krylon spray-paint as a background. -Aqua clear 20 fuge planted with cheato and codium spp -11 lbs. of live rock and 20lbs. of live sand -Maxi-jet 600 -20” Sunpod 70w Metal Halide w/ 14k bulb -150w Heater Livestock: Fish Black Saddleback clown Eviota Goby Damsel Inverts Asst.
