I figure I probably do it about once a month at the moment. No problems really, and I keep up with water changes, so I don't have too much reason to be checking. Tanks only been up for about 5 months, but the only thing I've lost were some nerites that I'm guessing I didn't acclimate properly. Half died, half survived.

only when something goes wrong, whuch has (luckilly) pretty much meant never after my cycle. I do feel guilt about this, like I should do it more often though.

I let my corals tell me when to test. They are a great indicator of problems. So far, havent had any pproblems, but i religiously keep up on Water changes and maintenance.

Daily or few times daily when adding something new, cycling or if anything goes wrong. Would like to keep live monitors to know when testing is necessary.

I voted daily. I check salinity everyday. I check alk and calcium every other day and I check mag twice a month.

Every couple months on all my tanks.

I do weekly water changes, so the water parameters NEVER change..... EVER.

I still dont have a salt water test kit though, I am trying to find out if my freshwater kit will work on it with accurate results (it works, I just don't know if its accurate or not)

check salinity on my tanks every week before WC. used to test CA, alk, nitrates, phosphates before. now i just test if my corals look bad or something dies. don't like the chasing.

no sense of humor. fine i test my big tank weekly as it contains a tessellate eel and some softies. I test for nitrate and phosphate in that one. mainly because its a 6 year old tank and has been stable if something looks off i test the other elements but usually the cause is a seas monster took a dump in it. my mixed reefs I test for all strontium, molybdenum, magnesium, calcium, alk, PH etc. my nano I dont bother since i do 20-30% H2o changes weekly i dont use any supplements just good salt mix, clean H2o and temp check the salinity and into the tank.

i have only used purple up and buffer plus thats it and i have nice hard well water my ro/di unit has been collecting dust for 3 years.

had a salt bucket last me over two years on my big tank as i needed only add top off water. viva la refugium .

happy now? ;)
