abturton Posted January 19, 2017 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Dear all, this is my first salt water tank and also my first post. So sorry for any errors in my ways, facts or figures. Start Date: Live rock added 8th of January 2017. Tank Details: Tank – All-In-One Ocean Free Nano Marine 63L (17g) Tank Pump – 530 L/hr Skimmer – Mini protein skimmer (see photo of tank) Heater – None as of yet as it is summer in QLD, Australia Light – 26W, 14000k + 12000k (white and actinic blue) Lid – Glass Live Rock: Mass – 6kg ^ A little green shoot that is about an inch long grew over night, kind of looks like bamboo, no idea what it is? ^ No idea? ^ Is this a bristle worm?? ^ I think i may have 1 or 2 tiny Brittle stars? ^ Again unknown?? ^ Obviously a star fish, blue in color, goes all over the tank, live rock and glass, but do you know what type it is? ^ This urchin appeared when I first put the live rock in and has now dissappeared, who knows when it will next show its face! ^ Any idea what sort of worm this is? It was wiggling like crazy across the tank! ^ A snail of sorts. Saw it initially when live rock first went in, but recently saw a shell exactly like it, but with no snail, so may have kicked the bucket during the cycle. Water Parameters: See image below ^ These are are my values for just under 2 weeks, everything looks good so far. I know everyone has a different opinion on specific values, so i would love to know your thoughts on them. I would love to know of everyones thoughts on the tank and what the creatures and growing things in my live rock are Link to comment

If so I would be careful because some of those creatures are may considered as "pest". & i'm sure what you see isn't everything that is really there. If you have 1 or 2 brittle star fish i'm sure you have more like 10-20. Link to comment

Should I start trying to get rid of certain of these pests? If so which ones, and how? Eg physical removal, add certain invertebrates etc??
