Jorge091293
So I seen fish stores and some people online who turn all lights off completely at night.. I realy don't like the moon lights that much I was wondering if I could switch out two of those moon lights and change them with some grow led lights they give. A beautifull color to the tank and help with my feather dusters growth ... and at nights instead of having the moon lights just completely turn off my lights what do u people think I have a athnic ligth on the bottom 4 ( 3) watt 15k leds .. and the growth leds I whant to put are 3 watts led... I know in nature god turns the sun off .. or If I put the growth lights in can I leave them on at nigth with the moon lights ? Link to comment
Groot
You need a rest period and feather duster do not benefit from lights they are worms that filter feeds. Link to comment
seabass
Moon lights are not required. However, fish can get spooked more easily without them, and they could be more likely to jump. However, I wouldn't leave the new 3W LEDs on at night. Link to comment
tetraodon
on in the day, off at night, its not much more complicated than that, feather dusters are filter feeders so they will be fine. Link to comment
Clown79
Moonlights are really only for our enjoyment. Theres no need to keep them on all night. The moon isn't visible every night nor all night. Feather dusters are filter feeders, additional light really won't do anything for them Link to comment
Jorge091293
Update today I added more 15k led lights to the tank with an on and of switch also replaced one of the moon lights with a led 3 watt grow light now at night gives a darker blue color is not bright blue any more ... also added two grow led 3 watt separately with an of and on switch gives a beautiful pink color alone to the tank ... last I had a ethnic light that is the stock bulb all together when they are on at the same time give an awesome bright colorful look to the tank .. wish I could show pics of how the lights make everything poop and not only but show every spec of the tank ... I do have a question will the grow leds 3 watt help grow the coral line algae that is growing in tank grow better and faster Link to comment

uwharrie
trust me too much light will cause huge headaches with algae. I work long hours and my controller did not have an on-off-on-off option. If it had I would have the lights come on when I get up at 5:00 and go off at6:30 then back on at 12 and go off at 9. I now have them coming on at 11:30 and going off at 9:30 I don't get to enjoy the tank in the AM but I was having a HUGE issue with GHA and consensus was too much light. I do a quick once over with a flashlight in the morning and enjoy and feed the tank when I get home at night Link to comment
