Please tell me all about your oceanbox 20L insert

I did a search and read almost every thread that came up. Not all were ocean box. I also checked out the ocean box web site but did not see any customer reviews on this item. I found a few comments but not any detailed reviews. I like the clean look and the design seems top notch. I know with any AIO system or mode the chambers are small and keeping them clean can be a real challenge. I would love to see and hear about your actual experience installing and maintaining. The older I get the less I am wanting to DIY.

User: bamzam has an insert here: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/373838-bamzam-12g-long/(his is for 12L but I imagine not much difference other than size)

He's fairly active and could prob give you a good review if you PMd him.

Personally, I have the AIO POB sump on my unit, and I love it! I know its not exactly the 20L insert, but the quality of the craftmanship is top notch. Phoung does a really good job and I doubt you will be disappointed. The shelves are removable for my unit, so pulling them out and cleaning the back chambers is pretty easy.

I can't speak on other brands but the craftsmanship on the one I got from oceanbox was excellent. There's nothing to installation as it fits pretty snug. Just need to add some silicon and you're good to go.

Thanks for the reply. I was not sure in your last full tank shot if you still had the insert. Your tank is a 20L correct? I think most are 12L not that it really matters.

Just saw this post, i know there isn't a lot of information out there but these are all the threads I could find with tanks running my AIO conversion kit, I hope I didn't miss anything. There isn't a whole lot of difference in features and functional between different tanks, the only difference would be dimensions of the AIO unit.

I have one and I apologize for never starting a thread. I will gladly send pics wherever. The craftsmanship is top quality. The fit and finish is great. Phuong from Oceanbox is SUPER HELPFUL!!!! He always responded to all my messages and more then willing to offer any help he could.

The only drawback ( IMO )s the fact this is my first tank and silicone. The whole silicone in component turned a little bit more easier said then done. However that is entirely subjective and everyone is different.

OTHERWISE zero complaints.

With Rock and sand I am right in the neighbor hood of 16 ish gallons volume.

My silicone skills are hit or miss. Use a lot remove excess with a the back of a spoon works to redo a tank seam. I made a mess in an AC unit mod last time I tried that. A couple done much better previously. docshipwreck do you think it was worth giving up the display space? I look at having one more pump and the tube from the HOB filter and it really does not take up the much room. Adds to water volume and hides the heater. See still undecided.

I get it. I really do because now as I've gotten my feet wet and have a much better operational understanding I can see the guys who do the HOB, but part of me really loves the AIO with the media racks. I run filter pad floss and chemipure top to bottom. I have a little extra rubble in there.

Ive been back and forth about the extra display ive 'lost". Depending on your stocking wants thats sort of negligible. When I spent all my time researching I knew this was the best size for my home and stand I had. It's a weird in between size when it comes to some stocking recommendations.

I do love mine. Some days I want that little extra room. But realistically is 12x12x5 your missing. I like the HOB and in tank basket but I think this has a lot more room and filter capabilities and youre not stuffing the heater in with floss if your heater shape even fits.

Unfortunately I will be putting this on hold for now. Took my sweet dog Abby to the vet this morning for a recheck up she went 2 weeks ago for an ear infection. While there I had the vet check a lump I found. She also found another one twice as big. So we go back in 2 weeks her ears were not completely cleared up so she got another treatment. At that time she will check if the lumps are growing. As it stands right now the estimate for bloodwork, x-rays, surgery to remove 2 lumps, an umbilical hernia, and clean her teeth, send out biopsy's will be about $1,400.00 min. I rescued Abby 2 years ago and she is only 7 now. Fingers crossed and praying for the best.
