LbulletM
I wanted to add a little bit of biofilter for a 10g QT I'm setting up. The two options I'm considering are live rock rubble (I still have a HUGE dry rock from setting up my display tank) or the little cylinders that come with the AC110 filters. Which would you consider preferable for just being placed in the bottom of the tank? Also, how long will the rubble or media have to be in my display tank before it is sufficiently seeded? seabass
It's common to run a power filter on a QT tank. Then just transfer some old media that you use on your display tank (could even be filter floss or activated carbon). It takes a couple of weeks to get bacteria colonized. It's also good to have a bottle of Seachem Prime around just in case. Rubble is just hard to keep clean. I use it for attaching coral frags, but it doesn't have much use past that. If you want, you can use larger pieces of dry rock in your QT tank, but it often isn't suitable for many meds if needed. To prep your dry rock for use in your QT, follow this guide: http://www.drtimsaquatics.com/resources/fishless-cycling Link to comment
burtbollinger
I would use 8 x 8 x 1 marinepure block as flooring. Link to comment
