graemevw
First off, I really apologise for the pic, best my phone could do! This torch is in my lfs. I really like it. Ive only seen ones that are transparant green/purple. This one is dark green and the tips are very bright. Its quite expensive (£55) compared to the other torches this size (£25). Im not really ready to be adding corals yet and im not sure if I should start with cheaper varieties anyway, but for future reference is this a particular type of torch, or just a colour varient? Im probably going to want to try and find another in the future. Link to comment
RIP Sebastian
It's just a color variant. Link to comment
graemevw
Thanks. Hard to find? Normal for it to be twice the price? If I was asking other shops about them what would I call it? Just a dark green torch? Link to comment
Clown79
Its just a colour variant. Sometimes variants cost more if they aren't the "common" colour. Here a octo frogspawn costs about $30 more thsn regular frogspawn. Gold and purple tips cost more. Torches are fairly easy corals to keep. How old is your tank? Link to comment
graemevw
Not old enough for corals lol. 2 weeks wet. used part live rock so only had a mini cycle that took a week. First algae bloom has come and almost gone. Got some snails and crabs in it now. edit to say, the live rock came from an established systems sump, went straight into a bucket of water and half hour later was in my tank so things have settled quickly. Clown79
Once your tank has cycled, you can add a coral. Link to comment
graemevw
Yeah, thats what the lfs I went to today said. I had it in my mind there was a recomended maturing time before adding corals but ive read so much recently I probably mixed some info up. Ill have to wait a while anyway as my first fish went in just now Lfs also recomended a thick tentacle torch or a hammer for my 16g rather than a torch anyway as there sweepers aren't as long. Clown79
The coral doesn't add the same bioload as a fish, you can add it. Certain corals i wouldn't add in a new tank but a torch or frogspawn, softies, are fine just start testing alk, ca, and mag Link to comment
