2g Office Pico

So, I just finished my degree in May, started a new job in August, and am getting settled into my new position. I somehow have my own office, which is a great place for a tank! :)

The tank is a 2 gallon (really only about 1.5) aqueon evolve. I had it set up about 2 years ago, but took it down due to time restrictions.

Here's my original scape that I'll re-use. I superglued it together so it would be easy to remove if need be.

I'm going to mod the filtration in it this time around, and I ordered a par30 bulb a few months ago off of eBay from China. Here's all I have so far, more to come..

I want to see how low I can keep the cost on this tank while making it easy to deal with, so I used some old eggcrate to mod the filtration.. Also, I went with an Aqueon 50W preset heater that was only $14-- I just got done testing it out for the last week and the thermostat works very nice for such a small heater, but ill probably add one of those $25 azoo micro temp controllers just for a little redundancy. Here's what I have so far..

I cut a hole in the bottom of the tray to allow water to move straight down

I made a little eggcrate shelf to put some seachem denitrate media on

Added the egg crate for the filter floss to sit on

Added the heater and return pump back and put the filter floss back in..

Done!

Should be easier to change out the carbon, which will sit directly underneath the filter floss. Besides this, I'm working on a cheap ATO solution.. more to come.. :)

Nice pico, nice scape :)

Thanks! I'm going to try your feeding and w/c regimen on this tank to see what I come up with! :)

Nice pico, love that scape!

Thanks! This was one of my first glued scapes, and I've done them all like this since. It makes it so much easier to move and clean up if need be, and I don't have to play the "how did I have this rock a second ago?" game, lol

  • 4 weeks later...

Well, I'm now in the middle of an unplanned move, so this 2g office tank may wind up being an 8g office tank(might have to bring my frag QT tank here instead of the 2), and the 2 might go in the classified section on here...a lot is up the air.. will update as soon as I find something out!
