I was doing a water change tonight and my mushroom usually folds up like this when I finally start tagger flow back up but I noticed these I guess what look like thinner spots on the underneath of him. You can see where the light shines through it more. What is this from? Any info please. I didn't see anything underneath him but could something be bothering it?

Is all ok with water quality?

It could be to much lighting. Could be from rubbing up against the rocks.

I would just keep an eye on it.

All parameters are good. Hmm maybe rubbing? The flow on that side was a bit fast . I didn't know it could do that if that's the issue. I haven't started adding extra vitamins to the water yet could that be a possibility? I was going to take my water to get checked to see what I may be lacking since I've added a few new corals tho this guy is not one.

No. Water changes is enough to replenish all necessary needs.

Mushrooms don't often care for high flow areas. They shrivel up and will move when very unhappy.

It could be lighting. Is the shroom in a high light area?

What are you nitrates and phosphates at?

I keep all light levels under 24% at the peak hours my whites are only at 18% . Nitrates are 0 not sure phosphate but I had phosgaurd in the tank and recently took it out about a week ago. The water flow was mild where he was but not high. What should phosphate be at and what should I use to check it? I add it the phosegaurd for a little bit after a water change.

Phosguard should only be used to lower phosphates and phos should be monitored during use.

0.03 is good phos.

Nitrates 2-5 is good as well.

Your system may be too clean for the mushroom.

Too clean??? That's a thing? Lol I just messed with the flow yesterday and changed his rock to face a different direction. I picked up a aquatop mr-20 and added some phosphate out along with my chemipure he's actually opened up more and is looking a bit more happy since adding that even in the last few hours it's been on. ? I still don't have much in my tank which is probably why my numbers are so low.

Yes, aquariums can be too clean. It lacks nutrients that corals and other livestock need.

Tanks without fish are low nutrient tanks which require regular feeding in order to keep required nutrients in the tank.

Phos and nitrate at 0 isn't optimal.

Got cha! Everyone outta really happy with the new system I added. So I'll keep eyeballs peeled on that mushroom. What testing systems do you recommend for testing calcium, phosphate and things for the corals needs?
