hermocentricorbit
Hello all, I could use your help in identifying this little fella I bought at the LFS. I was told it was a big Nassarius -Babylon- snail that would scavenge around my sandbed. I acclimated him and made up a little info card on my computer like I do for all of my critters. To my dismay it seems he may actually be an ivory whelk which, according to a few unlucky owners, has a habit of devouring tankmates. I'm quite fond of my hermits and my abalone so I'm wondering if you all can help me nail down exactly what he is? My LFS has never steered me wrong and they've said he won't devour his tankmates. A side shot! Link to comment
ajmckay
Looks like a Babylonia whelk. It seems most get along just fine in a reef tank though they are sometimes regarded as a snail predator. It is usually not advised to keep them with clams. Link to comment
