I'm going to be setting up a 20l in the next few weeks, to move my 10g into. I'm very interested and have pretty much decided on getting the current orbit marine led, but does anyone have any suggestions around the same price range or reasons why I shouldn't get the current? I plan to keep zoa's and some lps.

You could do an aquamaxx nemolight, mars aqua, or nanobox. Those will work on a long.

I havean Ai Prime on my 15g and a Aquamaxx on my 10g(the nano version) both are good lights. I have lps, zoas, and sps un both tanks.

I'd recommend the Ai Prime but on a long tank it won't work well.

Looks like I'm torn between the orbit marine and the nemolight. Any arguments for one over the other? The orbit marine timer looks easier to use, but the nemolight might have better color?

The Orbit Marine is shit. If you're on a budget go Kessil A80 or AI Prime HD.

I have never used the orbit.

I have experience with the Ai Prime and the Aquamaxx Nemolight.

The programming on the nemolight isn't hard if you read the instructions carefully or watch any videos available.

The key is to set it up at the time you want it on. So if you want it on at 11am, thats exactly when you set it.

I've not had any issues with the light. Its sleek, no heat issues, programmable, good price. You can also put it on a timer if you want.

With the nemolight, if you use the timer, the moonlights will stay on all night correct? I don't think I will want 24 hours of light, is there a way around this or should I look into something else?

i'll chime in as I have a 20L with the nemo light.

I think its a perfect light for the 20L. yes AI does have some cool features but you are correct for the 20L you will need 2 maybe even 3..

there is not that many options out there for that size tank.

as said black boxes just be sure to turn them down. but big and ubgy for a 20L IMHO

could go wit 3 maybe 4 par 38 bulbs lil or no control ability tho .

orbit I really thought about this light as well. I think it would work just fine on a 20L

2 AI primes with mounts but to get the coverage you would need to mount them a lil high. good features but more $$

in the end I decided on the Nemo light and so far I like it a lot. I have it on a timer as I needed it to be on and did not want to wait until the next day to set the time..haha and left it that way.

its a slim and sexy light looks and works great. INHO i really would give it a try. marine depo jut have it on sale over thanksgiving too.

them might again around Xmass??

good luck

No. I don't use the moonlighting on the nemolight. Its on a seperate setting. I ramp down then the blue lights are on low until 12am. Then off.

I don't use the moon phase on the Ai either because it follows the actual moon phase. I just use 5% or lower on blue for moon lighting for 2hrs then off.

NanoBox Quad. The key is to have a nice colored light going into the tank. Most cheaper LED fixtures will have a garish purple cast to them and to brighten up the tank you have to use the White channel which puts way too much light in. The Quad would be perfect and will work on a larger tank as well.

Regardless, make sure whatever you get has a cyan/blue channel you can control to eliminate the purple cast of a Blue / RB channel.

My opinion and personal preference, of course.

So you have the nemolight on a separate timer?

if that was directed towards me, then yes I do have it one a timer I was leaving for vacation and set it up that way as it was after the time I wanted it to be on. just left it that way as I have been lazy and have not set the timer. guess I should get around to doing that...

I am in the same boat. Currenltly leaning towards the Aquamaxx. I have a 20 L with an oceanbox designs insert. I do LOVE the controllability with AI.

Does anyone think the AI has enough spread for a 20L? I've seen some unofficial numbers of 20x20 coverage which would leave me a little short on edges.

Any thoughts? as always thank you everyone for your time!!
