What's everybody's "educated" opinions or actual experience with coral growth supplements such as Red Sea's coral package? Do they actually work? Speed up growth? Better color? Seems like it could be bogus but are they worth it?

As with all reef supplements, the phase 'It depends' is appropriate.

If one has tank conditions where available nutrients are not sufficient for the corals' needs (example: efficient chemical/mechanical filtration and a low fish propulation/minimal feeding), then yes these products can help.

If, on the other hand, sufficient nutrients are available to the corals (example: minimally filtered or non-filtered tank, decent fish population and regular feedings) then the benefit of these types of products is negligible.

How one sets up their reef system will determine if such products will be helpful, or not.

Well said.

If you have fish, feed the fish, feed the corals, do weekly water changes and have some nitrates and phos then they aren't needed.

If someone has a low nutrient tank with no fish then its beneficial.
