Groot
Now that colder weather is here my windows are staying shut so my ph really dropped last night 7.7 This really bothers me I think I might try a scrubber or replace my sump with adjustable baffle. I'm so tired of spending money god dam hobby. I haven't been home today but for the most part my corals seem to be doing well with the low ph it usually averages 7.9. Link to comment

ajmckay
I've thought about just running some tubing outside connected to the skimmer so I can pull in outside air for that... Link to comment

markalot
Yeah I don't know if I want to drill a hole in the floor or wall for that my wife wouldn't like that. IS there a way you could keep the window partially open and fix up some kind of baffle to run a line outside. I'm in a basement with a crappy tiny aluminum window so it was easy, but not attractive. Option two is to carefully use Kalk in topoff to maintain KH, cheap but you need to be on top of your game to estimate how much you need. Third option is to pull PH probe and never look back, ignorance is bliss. Link to comment

Clown79
Ph changes throughout the day. If your alk is in normal range, your ph should be fine. If nothing is being affected in the tank, I wouldn't chase ph. Link to comment

Jcon_343
Your PH will go down at night when the lights are off. As long as your numbers are staying consistent you'll be just fine! As said above, don't chase the number. As long as everything is happy and healthy don't change what you're doing. Link to comment
Groot
My ph is at 7.6 right now ? Link to comment
Clown79
I haven't tested my ph in so long I don't remember. Unless you are testing the exact same time every day, you will get different numbers. Early morning while lights are off the number is low, late afternoon when lights have been on for hrs its normally in the 8 range, at night it drops. What is your alk at? That can alter your ph levels. Do you have a lid on the tank, that could be effecting the gas exchange causing lower ph levels. Opening a window in the home can help. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2002/5/chemistry This is a really good article on ph and the relationship with alk Link to comment
