Astinus
After Carbon has been used, can it be re-used? If so, how? Do u need to take steps to re-activate it? Link to comment
jedimasterben
No, carbon is one and done. Link to comment
Astinus
TY Ben I had thought so, but, was curious. Always good to ask questions Link to comment
ReefWeeds
There's also a plethora of information available on the forum so it's always good to search as well. Also a lot of good information from other sources as well like advanced aquarist, Melev's reef, etc. etc. Link to comment
Astinus
TY Rachel I tend to forget about the Search Feature. When I am curious about Coral and or fish, I like to use Liveaquaria for basic information. I do not, however venture to Melev's Reef or Advanced Aquarist. I forgot about those sources for other information. Link to comment

Astinus
Yes it does Rachel! I use it a lot. My head isn't screwed on to tight this morning. To many things going on in my head. Link to comment
Clown79
No it can't be reactivated...i'm sure we all wish it could. lol. Just use a good carbon, most last a month. or use less of it and change it more frequently. Some only use it for a few days and pull it...not sure how to store it though. Link to comment
Astinus
I Buy the "Good" stuff. (At least I hope it is). Marineland Black Diamond Media "Premium Activated Carbon". 40 Oz. Jug. I bought this jug for 30.00, I could probably find it cheaper elsewhere. Yeah, this size jug is good for us. I not only use it for the Reef Aquarium, but, I also use it in our 75 Gal FW. It lasts me just over a month. Link to comment
Clown79
Wow. My Matrix carbon lasted 7mnths. I use matrix- love this stuff Kent Chemipure blue-didn't see any difference other than paying a lot more. Link to comment

Next time give ROX 0.8 carbon a shot - it is significantly better at removing organics than any other that I've found. With ROX, you only need to use a very small amount and change it often. Wow. My Matrix carbon lasted 7mnths. As in the same bag or you bought enough so that you had 7 months worth? Anything that sits in the tank for more than a couple of weeks gets covered in bacterial films and pretty much loses its ability to function. Link to comment
Astinus
TY Ben for the recommendation on the Rox I certainly will get a hold of some. I just looked at product description and I like what I read. Link to comment
Clown79
No, I meant the full package lasted 7mnths. I change it monthly and rinse the bag when i do waterchange. Link to comment
