gustavowoltmann
Any tips you may give to me regarding my plan to have a flower horn at home? Things to have and things not to do? Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
If you're referring to the flowerhorn cichlid, then you're kind of in the wrong forum. it's primarily salt/reefing in here. But that's okay. Flowerhorn are best kept in single-species tanks. Otherwise it will annihilate everything and anything (this is coming from someone who has kept flowerhorn on and off for a good 15 or so odd years). Also, do take note they grow incredibly large incredibly quickly and are extremely territorial. You'll need a wide and roomy tank - decor is best to be minimal (they can uproot plants if they want to, so best to skip plants) - of at least 75G+ or maybe more for a lone fish (and they are loners!). Each fish has a different personality - I once had a fh that used to jump and 'pop' the plastic rims that hold my mesh lid for the tank free, only to carry it around in his mouth like some scaly puppy. It was quite amusing to watch. Also, there are various grades of fh - kamfa is the priciest but the most beautiful with usually large 'kok's/bumps on their forehead. You can google up more resources online and do as much reading as you can about them before you attempt to keep one. Link to comment

The little guy was named Jay Jay and possibly the most interactive fish that I've ever met. Incredibly intelligent too. Sadly he died due to a prolonged power failure. Link to comment
