Too much flow for my Clown Fish?

Hi all. I have a Fluval 6 gallon tank with a Hydor Koralia 240 power head. Here is my current setup:

Fluval edge 6 gallon

Hydor Koralia 240 power head

stock filtration

about 5-8 pounds of live rock

about 8 pounds of live sand

instant ocean reef crystal salt water

Live stock:

2 x ocellaris clownfish

1 x twin spotted goby

a few snails

one RBTA

I have the power head on the top right hand side blowing against the back side glass at a angle. I never seem to see my clownfish sleep. They dig in the sand and sometimes chill out there at night but not to sure if they are sleeping or not because they are still moving quite a bit but not really swimming around the tank like they are during the day. Anyone know if it's too much flow affecting them at night? I don't wanna turn my power head off because of my RBTA. Should I get something less powerful? Something strong enough still for my RBTA?

can you not adjust the flow rate of the powerhead?

No I can't. It just has the one setting and there is no dial to adjust intake or anything.

Its like my clownfish dont "settle" in their dug out spot. They act like they are and then drift away just a bit and then have to swim to "readjust" like it cant get comfortable. Maybe I'm just looking too much into this. I just get worried omgomgomg

Oh I see. Ecotech Vortech is adjustable, and that is what I am going to get.

Well I guess for the money that you saved by getting Koralia, you can get another less powerfull Koralia :)

clowns like swimming in strong flow from time to time so if you see him going into the flow and swimming quickly he might actually be enjoying it... however if the flow is impossible to escape from and there are no quite spots throughout the tank that could be a different story.

Yeah I might have to go with a even smaller power head. Maybe the hydor pico evolution 400. Says it pushes 100 gph compared to the 240 gph the nano does.....but will it be enough for my RBTA. that's where I'm kind of puzzeled.

Before you do that, try angling the powerhead upwards to bounce off the top of the water then to the side.

It will help diffuse some of its energy and also add to the surface aggitation.

Thanks! I'll give this a try first.

I tried what droy008 suggested and it seems to be a better. Turned off my filter and fed some food to see circulation and it still has a good enough current for my RBTA but not as strong as before. Will update later in a few days and tell how it goes.

Looks like it still too much flow for such a small tank. now that I'm looking at my fish I want something a tad bit bigger. Looking into upgrading to a fluval evo 13.5 or biocube 14. I dont have the room for a 30 gallon or bigger.
